Try the fresnel node instead of refraction..that's about as close as you're going to get.

Use the smaller, blurry images on lights. You need to manually apply those as well. HDR would work for the lights. The large jpgs are what you can use on the sphere.

Thread: Do I want Poser or DAZ Studio, and what figure? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think you can adjust the height and stuff (I could be wrong about that) with Genesis without buying anything extra. You can with the Poser figures as well, tho it may take a free script to unhide the xyz dials so that you can adjust the length of limbs ;). Skin tone can be changed in the material room of either software. Bulges are more along the line of morphs which you will have to pay for or learn to make on your own.

If you're only using it for reference and not a final render, then I don't see why DS shouldn't be all you'd need. The male and female figures come with the software and should be good enough for you to use as reference in your drawing. Buy a couple hair pieces you think look like what you're after andย you should be all set. Just be aware that there isn't much in the way of realistic in the Genesis figures - they're idealized humans and not really realistically proportioned. That being said, I don't find the Poser native figures reasonably proportioned either, tho for different reasons. I do think the Poser figures are probably closer to realistic proportions than Genesis tho. it's all subjective ;).
If you REALLY want a realistically proportioned female, try Miki 2 (Content Paradise). Sydney would work too.

You manually have to apply the images to the Envirosphere. They don't just magically show up. Because there is no image on the sphere to begin with, there is no link to any image at all, therefore you have to apply manually once inside Poser.

On import into Poser, did you leave all the import options unchecked? You need to keep "Centered" and those type of options unchecked.

I'm not familiar with the product, but I'm gonna assume that the objects may work, but you'll likely have major tweaking of the materials.

Thread: Clothing Mesh - reassigning / adjusting groups | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you switch your view mode to wireframe and use the grouping tool you should be able to add all polys that you swipe across, including the faces on the other side of the model. When in texture shaded mode (and some others) you can only include the polys that you can see. Try that.

In order for your soft-decorated seams to work, they need to have a back side that touches the base dynamic cloth. Do they? And it looks likeย your base dynamic cloth is also ignoring collisions. Have you set upย your collisions correctly? I can't help you if I can't see what your settings are ;). I use and create hems all the time for my clothing items and they work. Soft-decorated items should be a separate mesh and not part of your base dynamic mesh.

See hborre's answer above. If you want something to scale, use a background image on a plane and one of the other images on a light instead of the sphere....you won't get accurate scale with the envirosphere. The sphere is used mostly for sky images. I use Alex's apartment all the time, but I only use it for reflections and light, so I make the sphere invisible to the camera. The light still shines and surfaces still reflect the light from it, but you don't see the image from it. I then build a scene around it if that's what I'm after. Normally, I don't build a 360 degree scene, which is why I use the sphere to begin with. I make a lot of metal shaders and they need something to reflect (as does skin, btw). I only set the sphere to visible if I have a sky image on it and my scene requires that the sky be seen.

Thread: Imbedded personalized reminders of items in Renderosity cart on unrelated web pa | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
AdBlock and NoScript (if you use Firefox). If you use Chrome I know there's an AdBlock plugin for it, but Chrome itself is rather creepy (unless you don't log into Google). Welcome to the future, where creepiness is part of everyday life (your cell phone tracks everything you do anyway). You're likely being tracked thru Google - ever notice how a Google search will put "personalized" ads on unrelated websites of things you recently searched for? Personally, I use Duck Duck Go and only sign into Google when I have to. Otherwise, I'm signed out. Even that ain't a guarantee ;).

There is no Panoramic Image 2 on the Envirosphere I've got. Only what ya see in the screenshot above.
Try sIBL Archive for some images for the sphere (use the 8k jpgs in the zip files...you can use the other ones on lights if you happen to ever have a use for Image Based lighting.
