Have any of you folks gotten this fantastic little program? It's just awesome! Can't wait until they update for 3D export! LOL I now return you to your regularly scheduled forum...

That's beautiful! Martin posted some Xeno pics about a week back, and he claims to be in love with it too. :)

Hey yeah, that's way cool...

That's lovely, Laurie! I'm waiting for the 3D export, because I want to bring those puppies into Vue! :)

What is this program and where do I get it? What is actually called? That's a very cool image.

Here you go, kaom, the Xeno Dream home page. :)

MikeJ, Thanks for the link. I checked it out, but, no demo? I wish it had a demo to see if it was worth my $70. It does look interesting though.

Daffy34 ( ) posted Mon, 13 August 2001 at 10:48 AM

There is no demo and it is a bit tricky to learn at first, but the best way is experimentation. There are also forums and lists to help you along if you wish at YahooGroups (xenodreamers & xenodreampix) and also a new forum at Big-i.com. I couldn't make anything that looked like anything for the first day, but the 2nd day just clicked! There are lots of folks around to help. I felt it was worth every penny of my $69 :). Laurie

The only problem I see with this, aside from the no demo, is that it seems to depend heavily on lighting for results.... That means that no matter what results you get in xenodream, if you export that image, when it has the export capability, you lose the colors, because it's not going to transfer the lighting, so you wind up with a grey lump of 3ds material, and none of the lovely colors you have up there.. Does this seem like a real scenario??

Daffy34 ( ) posted Mon, 13 August 2001 at 10:19 PM

Actually travidoro, the colors ARE there, but you are right that they do depend alot on lighting in Xenodream. The thing is, if the colors are there, you can give them a metallic finish or shiny or whatever in Vue. And if they promise 3D export in future, I can't help but think that they would also make it so that you can export the texture in the lighting that you have set up so that you can match the colors you got in the program. At least, I hope they do ;). Laurie

See, that's my concern... Cause you can export textures, but if it's lighting dependent, you can't export lighting, and even in that beautiful example you have up there, I can tell that a lot of the beauty of it lies in the lighting... So unless you come out and say "Hey yeah, it will export all the colors exactly as the render", I'll just sit and wait... :) Very nice images though, but a bit pricey for me...
