We'd probably keep the two as separate products. Bryce and MojoWorld are very different, and each has its strengths and weaknesses. We might market future MojoWorld releases as "Bryce Pro" or something lamely marketing-speak like that. ;-) The best situation would be if both were just different interfaces to the same modeling/rendering/texturing engine. "But first we'd have to get Bryce." :-) -Mo
Thread: Some Experimental Bryce Images | Forum: Bryce
Yes, the code that made all those images is still in there, in some form or another. The cloud images could be reproduced only with a recompile of Bryce, though. I don't remember how long they took to render, Erlik. They were undoubtedly pretty slow, though. :-) And hey, if any of you wants to loan us the $3M I'm sure Corely would be happy to hand Bryce right over! ;^) -Mo

Sure! Let's do it! But let's wait a few more days for the newly free-again MojoWorld Transporter 2.0... 8-) -Mo

Okay, I've started the upload of a rather large--MojoWorld images can be made at any resolution--example of what MojoWorld 2.0 can do. I hope it makes it! (I'm terribly excited--this is only my life's work!) -MoThread: A Tad OT, but Renderosity-Con | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Thread: An Excellent Illustration of Dilation Symmetry | Forum: Fractals

"In my limited availability," yes. This week we're pushing out the 3rd ed. of our book (see link). It explains fractals to artists, how to write fractal (and other) shaders to technical artists, and how to implement MojoWorld to programmers. Whole lotta work gettin' that bad boy out the door! Sunday I'm off to Sedona to teach at Bryce Camp. And generally, running Pandromeda keeps me off the streets pretty well pretty much all the time. But I'll try to keep my finger on the pulse of this group. Good fun! And educational, which is *very* important. -MoThread: Why fractals? | Forum: Fractals
Here's my cut at it:
Fractals represent a new symmetry: dilation symmetry. That's when something looks the same at different scales. (The property of dilation symmetry is what makes MojoWorld possible; planets that you can get as close to or far from as you like, while maintaining essentially perfect detail.)
Symmetry is ubiquitous in art. The human brain is a pattern-recognition machine; fractals represent a new class of patterns we've recognized.
So it's utterly natural that artists would seize upon fractals an run with them, so to speak.
Why? "Because they're there." :-)

PS- In case you didn't know, I was Mandelbrot's right-hand man for 6 years, so I know a bit about fractals. He even credited me with being "the first true fractal-based artist." Not trying to brag; just to establish that I'm not just shooting from the hip here. ;-)

Thread: Some Free Terrain Models Exported From MojoWorld | Forum: Carrara
Hmm. I'm so produral-texture-oriented, that I've never thought that texture maps were worth exporting with terrains. But that's just me and my personal bias, I guess... Anyway, fixed-size height fields like this are really primitive compared to what MojoWorld does, so it's not really giving out much of MW's key functionality. ;-) -Mo
Thread: Some Free Terrain Models Exported From MojoWorld | Forum: Carrara
nyar1ath0tep: The "4K" files are all at 4096 squared resolution. The PNG and DEM files feature 16 bit precision in the heights; far better than 8 bits. (I actually do not know the precision of the TER and BT files, but I doubt that Carrara imports them at any rate.) I'm not familiar with importing terrains to Carrara. Can someone else give us instructions? -Mo
