LOL kinda makes me feel better to see others having this problem ;oP just kidding ofcourse LOL Well, at least we now know who causes the problems... I say we all work together to do something about it... i already sent my entire bug legion over to Tedz, all my land, water and air divisions... :D I suggest all of you macro people do the same !! Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuah! ;o)

I have only commented on 4 pics maybe in a full hour :( What particulary annoys me is that everytime i sit down to comment on my fav artists the errors start, and im way behind as it is already :( But i understand they are aware of the problem... ill just sit and wait then.. lol Thanks for the reply Cindy ! :o)

Hiya Joe,
i found it for ya, its not a milkweed bug but a type of moth. Its a Ailanthus Webworm, Atteva punctella.
Look here: image+info :D
Or here: images. These were actually shot in New Jersey ;o)
You were right about them looking out of place, it appears they are originally from Florida. Very cool shot btw !! Excellent work there !! :o)
Have a great day,
Jeroen

That said, i have seen something i still cant explain till this day... it was a quite a few years back (i think i was 12) I saw 2 objects, just two tiny bright dots, high up in the air... there where clouds and they were clearly above those. Normally one would think it were airplanes but they were moving in patterns even jetfighter pilots can only dream of. They were moving in sharp curves and around eahother as if playing together or something, and quite fast too. Like i said im not really convinced it could be aliens or something like that, but it was still weird... It looked so unnatural, that im still thinking of this every once in a while (16 years later).
Come to think of it, they didnt look very much unlike the one Andre photographed... hmmmm ;o)

Well, mine was probably a fighter jet from behind...
IMO there is one major flaw in Andre's reasoning, he says the object must have been higher then the airplane and moved with superior speed... Well, what if it was somesort of small particle falling down or blown by the wind that was so close to the lens it became blurred... that would explain the blurryness of the object as well as the percieved speed it was traveling
;o)
All in all very cool shots but im still sceptical of this kinda stuff :o)

Thread: Classification problem | Forum: Photography
Thanks for your sound advice Thomas, thats seems to be to way to go indeed... if only i could figure out which system is most commonly used LOL. Havent seen any website that states which system they are using either well not clearly anyways. Some use several systems mixed up whit eachother also. I think the most sensible thing to do is to find a recent book on the matter and buy that... that, at least, would enable me to use one system and i will be certain of which system that would be :o) So, thats pretty much what you said :o) As for reestablishing an ordering system, i do have a life you know LOL It would probably take many years to do that if not my entire life ;o) The research that would be involved is truly mindblowing... sigh Would be VERY cool though :D Anyways, thanks to you all for the input and have a great day !! :o) Jeroen

LOL i do, i do, but ive got all that covered... its just that suborder thing thats bugging (no pun intended lol) right now ;o)

Thread: Classification problem | Forum: Photography
Ok, on the matter why some use them as families and others as suborders... there are different groups of scientists, some classify by form, others by size and still others by development and more... from their pov they are all doing it the right way. So in essence all classification systems are correct, its just the way you look at it... but there arise problems if you want to classify all insects in the same way, especially if no-one states which system they are using. I think however im going for [ Order Lepidoptera Suborder Glossata Suborder Zeugloptera Suborder Aglossata Suborder Heterobathmiina ] that one, to me, seems to be the most consistent :o)
Thread: Classification problem | Forum: Photography
As it is now im leaning towards: Order Lepidoptera Suborder Glossata Suborder Zeugloptera Suborder Aglossata Suborder Heterobathmiina Im familiar with "The Taxonomicon" but they have another order system that is, im afraid, no longer up to date. Thanks for your help :o) Jeroen

Thanks Sheila ! :o) This is however another big problem... some use Rhapalocera & Heterocera as families, others use them as suborders... theres more stuff like that cry

My second one was rotated 15% to the right, i believe the fourth one was 5% to the right. I didnt rotate my 1st and 3rd one though :o) Have a great day Sheila !! :o) Jeroen
