Thats weird... I have a similar issue with my library not loading, just started today... See my thread that I posted a little before you.
Thread: Poser 2010 library stopped working | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, I didn't think to mention that... I only ever use the Poser runtime ("Poser Pro 2010 Content")... Which is what I think is the internal runtime (right?)... I don't use external runtimes... ones on other hard drives (right?)... How do I switch libraries... I looked in General Preferences and didn't see anything that appears to give that option.

Thanks for the wild pigs! They'll come in handy!... I can't tell you how many times I've said that in this lifetime... but thanks!

Thread: DAZ forums down? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Yeah, I went away for a week and when I came back the other day, I can not post anything at the forums there without getting logged out... Actually most anything I do logs me out. When I log back in I get sent to my account screen... but I am still logged out at the forums... today was the best... took about 14 or 15 tries just to make one post (to ask about this issue)...
I imagine if anyone else is having this issue they will not bother being that persistent and nobody will know about it.
Seriously it can be VERY painful and tedious to visit DAZ since the site change... I friggin HATE magento... It really ruined that place.
Thread: So - what's with the Poser(ish) freebie slowdown? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi seachnasaigh. In this case I was not trying to fix the particular model, but was using the image as an example. The model is/was already packed up when I noticed it... the door in question is technically in an area that is not that important or noticeable... one of six duplicate "stations". I decided to just move on and not invest more time fixing it... This particular model was an experiment using a new plug-in for the modeling program... to say the least the whole experiment was a pain... it was meant to save time, but in the end it did not... basically I spent more time on the model then I ever intended.
The weird poly has nothing to do with the plugin though. As a matter of fact, last night while I was making a promo image for another model when I noticed a similar artifact in a piece of clothing... and a car and an oil barrel. I started looking at random models I have in my runtime and noticed quite a few... both in paid for (but in that case- older) and free models... with all of these they were harder to notice because the polys in question were tiny... in real life probably an inch or less. In my case these are much more noticeable, because my models are mostly structures, so the faults can be many feet across.
I'm guessing that there are probably a bunch of causes for these artifacts or defects.
The weird thing is I can find no official term for them... every now and then I get one of these and decide to find out what causes them... but without a term for it, it is hard to define the search... and if I ask at a forum I end having to describe the whole thing again each time... as opposed to just saying "I have a Trimangulated polygon" and folks know what that is.
I'm actually going to use "Trimangulated" if there turns out to be no official term, since it always seems to occur with triangulated polys.
One question... when you said use the merge command, you do not mean in Poser or the modeller? I never noticed a merge command in Poser. I assumed you were referring to something in the group editing tool, but I could not find anything like it.
Anyway thank you for the help and have a great day!

Hi. I'm curious about what you meant by "strained UVs".
On occasion I get something like a shadow (as seen in accompanying image) along an edge.
The edge seems to render as though there is a slight angle to it, although there is none.
I have yet to find out what causes it for me, as sometime reloading the model makes it go away.
I'm curious if there is a term for this (such as "strained UVs"). I have asked in many different places about this phenomenon, but people either don't know or don't understand what I'm talking about.
If there is a term for this I might be able track down the cause easier using the web.
Thanks!

Peter Capaldi? Hmm... somehow I can only picture him as Uncle Nigel the penguin. Hopefully I'll be able to move beyond that.

Thanks for pointing that out... I was really hoping to at least get it for $90, because a couple of months ago SM sent me a newsletter about a special sale, I found it too late and missed out... $98 is close enough... $80 would be better...
I'm no fan of Amazon... it's my wife's subscription and anything I ever want to buy from them, I always can find on my own for at 10-20% cheaper (including shipping costs)... sometimes its just easier/quicker... but I'd rather save the cash.
I will hold off for a couple of days... Purplus seems to be a stable price, and Amazon did go from $134 yesterday to $124 today... doubt it would beat $98... but who knows.
I'll knaw on my keyboard if I miss out and Purplus goes up or runs out!

Yes, thanks hborre... there are two seprate discs!... I'm stupid, I left the Windows disc with the box and keep the Mac disc with my other software discs on my desk rack (disk holder... not the streachy type rack).
I guess you are saying then yes, 2012 boxed version still has both platforms... this seem to be what I see on PurPlus...
Which... THANK YOU 3doutlaw, is much cheaper!
I think I'll be ordering it from Purplus!
Thank you both!!

This will be the way most upper tier software will go soon. We already have no rights to any of our iPhones, Playstations and most other consumer electronics that are not already ladened with restrictions that essentially put the "owner" in the position of "renter" (in some instances almost as a "borrower") soon will be, nobody complained as we moved in that direction, nobody will complain now, Adobe will tell us it is all for our own good, so drink the punch an be happy... other companies will watch Adobe succeed and institute the same sort of policies... This is no bargain for the hobbyist, and when everyone switches to this model there will be no bargains anymore. In the corporate world the idea of a monthly subscription for everything is the greatest idea since sliced bread... no need to own it, just keep paying us, while we slowly jack up the price and dilute the service... It is amazing to me that people buy into this... swear by it even... little by little we give up all our consumer rights and privileges one by one, grinning all the while... its so cool.
Hopefully this will drive more people to Gimp. I personally hope this turns out to be a disaster of epic proportions for Adobe, not out malice but out of hope that this won't spread like a cancer to ever other software manufacturer out there, emboldened to take what Abode is doing , one step further... but most likely everyone will drink the punch and ask for more, praising it's bitter taste as if it were ambrosia.
Bottoms up, but I'll pass.
Thread: What is the proper way to make a DS version (= 2 a PP2) of one of my freebies? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hi RHaseltine.
Have I customised the materials in DS?
Well, not completely yet... as a matter of fact that is the reason I have put off making a DAZ Studio version of my models till now... previously most of my models have been textured entirely by image based tiles, so there really was no point... But several of my newer models have material based textures (mostly mt5s) like metals and glass... I have made a small library of materials that "appear" similar to their Poser counterparts, mostly metals and some colored glass... I'm still working on a metallic "automotive finish"... But anyway, yes... That is my intention and main reason for wanting to make a DAZ Studio version of my props. Since mainly the only individuals who use my models are newbies, I figure it is better if they don't have to redo the materials themselves or fuss with it too much to get it to work.
I think I understand what I must do... Import the model, Redo the non image based materials using DAZ materials, and then save it via: File> Save As> Support Asset> DSF Figure or Prop File.
Thank you for all the info, I'll also look into finding that thread at the old DAZ forums
