I tried to play with a variety of textures on this one. Five hours with two mesh lights (which was probably one too many). Just a simple .jpg background on the back wall of the cube. I wish the hair had a little more glossiness and definition to it, though. Not sure if that's a problem with black hair or my settings weren't ambitious enough.
Thread: Seriously, what is going on with the website design here? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm on IE8 at work (and Windows XP or whatever it was a decade ago), and the forum formatting breaks whenever someone posts an image. The paragraphs run off the side, and there's no scroll bar to follow them with.
Firefox at home is just fine, though with the blank spaces everyone's pointed out.

Archery images seem to draw out the archers for criticism. A recent project I did was an archery scene, and it took hours of fiddling with the bow and arrow to get everything into place so that it at least looked nice, and pretty much the only comment on the project was a comment about how no one would shoot like that. It'll be a while before I bother with an archery image again.

I use a D3D script called Copy Scale or something like that (I'm at work so can't check). It worked a treat in PP2010, but is hit and miss in PP2012. There is an auto-conform to scale checkbox, but that didn't transfer on a Vue import so the script was what I always used.

I've always been very happy with how Vue renders figures, but it does take some time to clean up all of the materials if you're not using the Poser shader tree inside of Vue. And SkinVue, to me, is a must have.
I'm still working out Reality 3 myself, so I don't really have a strong opinion on it until I work with it more. A simple portrait has turned out quite nice, but an outdoor scene just wants to be grainy even after running all night.

Always looking for more gear for M4 that contains pieces that could easily fit in post-apocalypse and gritty sci-fi projects.
And anything for Millennium Baby as a freebie would be highly appreciated!

Out of curiosity, as I don't believe I've seen it asked yet, would the Poser version of LAMH export to Vue easily and nicely?

I agree wholeheartedly on needing more promo images showing the back and sides. I don't need a front-on image of every colour of the rainbow. If I can't see what it's going to look like from the side and the back, I'm most likely not going to take a risk and buy it.

Another way of making that portion of the stockings disappear would be to create a rough transparency for it and hack them off at the ankles. I've done that for pant legs that I wanted under high boots. It's not very elegant, but it works.

Hiding the feet and toes is sometimes just the only thing that can be done, and helps keep a person a little more sane.
Thread: What makes a Poser render look realistic? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think the little details are a huge part of it, in addition to the shaders and materials.
Hair obeying the laws of gravity. Earrings and other jewelery hanging realistically. The grip on the weapon firm. The bend of the foot in a shoe or boot realistic to how a shoe is constructed (especially in a high-heel boot). All of those fine details that can be easy to miss or overlook.
It doesn't matter how beautiful the skin is if the hair is going sideways without the use of a giant fan and/or case of hair gel.

V4 (with S4 petite morphs) as she's the girl with the most toys.
The Millennium Dog is another favourite, and I need to use it more.
Thread: OT What's your New Year's Resolution relative to Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm determined this year to somehow start making my own content, even if it's just retexturing rather than modeling new. I'm going to sit and get through to the end of my pile of tutorials on the subject.
I'm also going to try and get DSON up and running. A lot of comments here have put me off trying it, but I did plop down the money to buy M5 & V5 while they were 60% off. Now I have to use them. Getting them happily from Poser into Vue will be the next challenge.
Third is just trying to find more time for Poser in general. I love it, but I get so few projects finished anymore. 16 finished images in one year is pretty small.
Looking at my list, I might need to drop to part-time hours on my day job to fit my Posering in...
Thread: New Vue Products | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Bumping this, because I can't figure out how to get a nice layout of all the newest Vue items as I could before, either. It's very frustrating trying to find things now.
Searching "vue" brings up 300+ items, but what order are they in?
And Software>Vue only brings up one page of items.
Thread: How do you manage your content? Seeking opinions… | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have mutiple external runtimes on a dedicated hard drive, all organized and subfoldered to death. I don't use any programs other than Windows Explorer to keep it all organized. Though a database would certainly be handy. I just don't have the time to get one up and running at this point.
My V4 runtime is heavily subfoldered into clothing, type of clothing, etc. And I've copied the accessories and footwear of the outfit sets into dedicated folders for accessories and footwear. It takes a bit of work and dedication, because you can't let it slack or it gets out of hand very quickly. But it's worth the effort in being able to find what I'm looking for with relative ease.
