Thread: Is JamesG2 really better than JamesP6 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
have to agree with seattletim. Also got this pack free, but I'm no too happy with the new koji. The G1 version seemed to have more spirit to it! This one is more or less indifferent. The only figure that is vaguely interesting is Kelvin. Again the teeth in all three figures leave a lot to be desired and the shoulder/back area is messed up - even when applying simple poses that require shoulder/arm bending, it looks rather bad.
Thread: D/S ver 4. Any comments or problems? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
only thing I've noticed so far is that you cannot really save your custom shaders!! DAZ goes through the procedure and you assume the shader has been saved, but when you try to apply it nothing happens!! (it's like it saved a blank file!). I've tried saving in 2 available formats dsb and ds. Your safest bet to save any shaders is to save all materials either as a whole or individually.
Other than that, it seems materials are handled in a much better way, and rendering options have been enhanced with shadow map size and renders are a bit faster and more precise.
overall, great improvement when compared to the 1.3.10 version!

Thread: IM GIVING UP ON DAZ | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I still find DAZ easier to handle than Poser shrugs
True, I was initially baffled by installers and directory structure but after some reading up in the forums and some really silly questions posed and answered, I've managed to get very good results - although I'm by no means a pro! It's easier to work with DAZ as it loads faster and has more user friendly camera and light controls. The materials section may be somewhat lacking out of the box, but if you play around (and even get pwSurface) you're in for a very pleasant surprise! :)
At the end of the day, it's what you feel better with that counts! :D
Thread: best character for V3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
TamelaJ, ExpressnImg, Thorne&Sarsa, Dalinise,Rhiannon, shesa and Morris have produced very high quality textures for v3. You can also use face_off's Real Skin Shader or the Unimesh/Poser Realism Kit to enhance renders.
as for preferences, SP3 and David as well as Koji G1 (no longer available as he has been replaced by the G2 version) for me.

indeed it would Mendyh! It's just that it had a 10% coupon applied to it and I don't think i could use it again. Could that be reset if possible?
Thanks in advance for everything!

ever since they changed the design it has become slower. And yes lately they seem to be having a problem with order processing - i suppose mainly because of P7 preorders?
Maybe you should wait a month or so! You might get a better deal on P7 then :)

you can apply the textures separately by going in to the SURFACES panel and selecting each surface, then navigate to your textures folder, locate the appropriate folder containing your textures and apply them to the DIFFUSE channel in the surfaces panel..
Thread: DAZ Studio to Poser 5 Conversion | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
wow.... all that for a simple question...
I like both applications... Happen to use D|S more because of the simplicity of design and the fact that it doesn't take hours to load. Granted, you have to pay for the plugins, but really it depends on what you want. I've purchased a number of plugins for DAZ but find that the most useful ones for me are PWSurface, PWCatch, Handgrip, D-Form, Parameters Organiser, and Finder alongside some freebies.
I like Poser for the way materials are handled (eventhough baffling at first) and for dynamic hair & clothing (although i rarely use them...). Also FIREFLY is a great render engine (to the exclusion of raytraced shadows looking weird - grainy...). But mostly... for face_off's plugins for skin and ambient occlusion. Poser is packed with features, it's true, and the learning curve isn't easy, but wonders can be achieved in BOTH applications with a bit of patience, persistence and vision...
At the end of the day... I don't think it matters what applications you use, it's your imagination that will allow you to be creative. Limitations can be overcome.
You can always export the whole scene in OBJ and import it into Poser...
Thread: casting shadows in D|S | Forum: DAZ|Studio
you can create a spotlight and move it closer to the figure and higher up. Try looking through it in the camera options in Daz Studio. That will help you see more or less where the light is actually pointing at.
