I agree with you.I hesitate to say it, but the problem in my eyes is not so much lack of support (at least, not only), but that often the offered content for LF/LF2 for example does look a bit outdated quality-wise. I have older gowns for V4 and V3 even with more detail than some things offered for the newer, more modern figures. I find little reason to purchase those, then. The trenchcoat set mentioned earlier is really a good example.
And even if the tghings might be good, the promos often don't show it. D|S promos often look much more sophisticated. An example:
https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/165956/prae-gwendolyn-hair-for-g8g9-females
The same product, and I really think it's a cute hairstyle which I'm considering to purchase... but had I only the poser promos to go by I might pass it.
Or harem pants...
https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/163215/sic-jeanne-harem-pants-for-g8x-f
https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/163376/sic-jeanne-harem-pants-for-la-femme-2
I purchased the La Femme version because of the D|S promos... the poser promos, I'm sorry to say, look like images I might have done in my first poser days like15 years ago. I think it must be hard to make high qhality promos in two such different applications, but there are some light sets and such out there that would help a lot. And little things like nice poses that look natural.
If you're totally new to 3D and go by promos alone you'll certainly get the impression that D|S will make better pictures. So... if the products that are there were more sophisticated or better promoted it might help at least a little.
I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but that's been on my mind for some time now.
Afro, I definetively don't mean your things, those are a light at the end of poser tunnel.
Oh, and I really love dynamics, by the way. Most of my images contain dynamic clothing nowadays. some even borrowed dforce things from Genesiswhatevernumber.I

The only reason I can imagine is that the file has one day been opened and modified using a program that doesn't include the uff-8 management.
Lately, I've seen this by examining a css file generated by an old Visual Basic 5 program, correctly encoded, but upon opening it using Win11's notepad: nada, no accents, only squares.

Yes: Sonoma 14.6.1.
I have to say that my mini is equipped with two screens, and Poser is occupying both. For example, the Hierarchy window is floating on the right screen. I don't know if that influences the situation or not, but upon playing with Poser's "LaFemme default scene", adding stuff, moving them around in the Hierarchy window: no crash, even when I parented LaFemme to her own dress.
The only difference I can see: Mini M1? M2? or the new M3 (if I'm not wrong, it's not yet on Mini's)

Same OS, on Mac Mini M2, Poser freshly updated, I've loaded many characters, props and scenes that were in the Included part: no crash. Safari was even streaming a youtube video at the same time.
Have you any AV that could disturbs Poser while loading anything?

Thread: Is Poser 11 still available for download? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Fun fact: Poser11 behaves almost as a portable application... My 4 and a half years old motherboard died last week, but the old SSD is still good. So that once plugged in on my fresh Win11 (I was on Win10), I only had to indicate to Poser11 where its specific content actually lies. Just the time to give my registration infos and voilà...

Thread: Difference between Poser 12 and 13? | Forum: Poser 13

Same for me: my PC died, after having been used 16 hours a day during 4 years and a half (I was working at home at the time). During the week I waited and finished building up my new PC, I tried Poser on my Mac mini M2.I got a new machine a month or so ago and had upgraded to Poser 13. Render preset OptiX High is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast. I couldn't use it on my previous computer, so I can't compare, but my renders are faster than they've ever been (and I've used Poser since version 4).
Lool: a single character, with clothes and hair: 2 minutes, and when my new monster was up and running with the 4070: less than 12 seconds....

Thread: Inordinately long time taken to delete recursively nested figures | Forum: Poser Technical
Ah, I think I see...
When I delete a nice big stack with my script it deletes very quickly - but I can't undo the deletion !
When you use Poser's built-in delete with 'delete attached' it takes a very long time, but you can undo the deletion. So I'd guess that what's taking the time is Poser setting up and saving the data for this undo ?
I think that you've pointed to the reason why the built-in deletion process is lengthier: the time to store the informations to allow the user to step back.

Thread: disappearing faces? | Forum: New Poser Users Help
Spinrite is not OS dependant, the only difficulty being in accessing the OS disk, even plugged in a standard PC. But sure enough, that won't be easy, if doable, with a Mac computer...

The very best low-level analysis tool I've ever used was Spinrite. At the time, we were using it by booting on a floppy disk, but I suppose that it should be possible to put this on an USB stick. And it has received a major update recently, in order to handle correctly the most recent technology.

I have always found Poser rather slow at object deletion... My impression is that it kind of reload a certain number of things...
There's a free tool you could try: Snarlygribbly's Scene Fixer. You will find it in the Poser 11 section here. It contains many tools, among them the ability to delete characters, lights, props, etc...
