Thread: Bryce, mixed medium, and other stuff in the fractal gallery | Forum: Fractals
To each his own Keith, not all of us are UF wizards and the Fractal gallery just seems right for some of the works we create. People just don't seem to appreciate the fractals anywhere else. It's not about the comments for me, those are an added bonus. It's more about sharing with a community to me. Harmen, there will always be someone speaking out against an artist no matter what he/she does. As for me, I put fractals into Bryce with an idea before I do. It's not dog crap, its an idea. I put my fractals in the Fractal gallery to see how some of you like that idea. It's something that not everyone does and it's what makes me me. When I have a Bryce creation that doesn't focus on fractals, I put it in the Bryce gallery. Fractals are a touchy subject because there are so many ways to create a fractal, and even more ways to manipulate a fractal. I hate to see threads like this, but yet I feel inclined to participate.
Thread: Are Fractals Chaotic or Ordered? | Forum: Fractals
I ordered my fractals off the Internet but they never came, so I had to make my own. I always thought the chaos theory was about making an order out of chaos, therefore it was a little of both. Fractals seem to fit right in with it. Now I'm completely confused.
Thread: How big is your fractal collection? | Forum: Fractals
I really got to stop thinking of penis analogies for everything, its going to start making people wonder about me.
Thread: Natural Fractals | Forum: Fractals
Well, I'm driving all the way from Chicago to Pennsylvania this Saturday (10 hour drive) and I'll have the camera with me the whole way. If I find any really good ones I'll post them to the photography gallery, but I'll let y'all know here. If you happen to live along I-80 between Chicago and Harrisburg, stand outside and wave, I'll see ya ;)
Thread: Opaque glass | Forum: Bryce
Aw darn, reading through this thread I thought this was going to turn into a rant on fiancees and significant others in general. I was going to add that my fiancee has limited me to 2 hours a day on the comp because I ignore everything else. I've learned to get up really early in the morning now or else I just wait until she's just fallen asleep. She's learned to wake up when I'm not in bed though. A tricky one she is. Anyways I'll continue with not saying anything important elsewhere now. I just had to add my 3 cents.
Thread: Popeye the Next Generation reprints of the last online collab...how it works | Forum: Writers
Roflmao at photograph of the chairman, I wasn't around when that was all posted, but I'm sure it would confuse the heck outta me.
Thread: can you plop render an animation? | Forum: Bryce
Hmm, what I'm thinking of would require some high end video editing program, but you could render the large scene as a still and then render just the small little animated part. Then you could nest the two together in a video editing program. I honestly don't know if all that work would be worth the difference in render time. Depending on your animation settings you would probably also see some difference in the animated area's background and the still area. If you can email me the files I could probably do this at school (have Adobe After Effects there) but I'm on break for the next three weeks.

Thread: What exactly are fractals? | Forum: Fractals
Laver2k, fractals are generated using mathematical equations that reiterate themselves, meaning the equation repeats over and over again adding tiny variations each time. The mathematical equation is mapped to pixels by color and location. I'd suggest doing a google search for fractals and doing some reading that way. There are hundreds of great sites out there describing what exactly a fractal is.
Thread: Hey Everyone!!!!!!! (: | Forum: Fractals
13 comments is a lot for me, but I think thats because I normally post in the middle of the night

Lol, I can see it now. This is what we call a penis measuring contest. I always lose those. I keep my collection really small because I use a lot of virtual memory on my machine. I have several Zip disks full of fractals that I'll browse through if I need inspiration, but I have no exact size. Most of them are in BMP format, but I have quite a few in JPG as well. I probably have at least 175MB total.
Thread: WIP - Comments pls! | Forum: Bryce
Much better, this way you can't really tell the lighting on the planet and the focus is on the spaceship more. (duh, as if you couldn't tell that) I really like the detail on the back of the ship, it looks great. Now that I think about the extra light I commented on in my last post, could that be credited as atmospheric glow?
Thread: WIP - Comments pls! | Forum: Bryce
It is great, but maybe one technical detail that could be ignored since no one has noticed it yet. The planet looks like it is more than 50% engulfed in light. Unless there are two suns here it looks a little strange in my eyes. Maybe I'm just crazy. Like I said, it doesn't matter a whole lot because no one else has noticed it yet.
