Congratulations, Scott! Now, your mileage might vary, but I'll tell you that my work fell off so radically after my son was born that a lot of people here think I'm new to Renderosity! ;)
Thread: Restrictions with digital art | Forum: Bryce
I haven't ever used any of the expansion-logarithm packages out there, so I'm no judge, but I suppose it's possible or will be soon to produce a decent 9x12 image from a much smaller digital file.

FW, I don't have $32,000 to spare either (just spent my last $32,000 on Poser hair), but the exciting thing about this is that these things cost $50,000 not too long ago. And ten years ago it cost even more. I could think of a few good --and not pornographic-- uses for such a thing and Poser and Bryce, if it were affordable. Maybe someday soon it will be. But, like inkjets, I bet they own you on the consumables. :)

Are you still having trouble making them available to us Mac people? What problems are/were you having with that?

Thread: How did you guys learn bryce?? | Forum: Bryce
You wouldn't know it from most of my work, but looking at the thread so far it looks like I might have been learning Bryce the longest (note I said "learning," in the present tense; people who have used it for a much shorter period of time have taught me a lot). I bought KPT Bryce 1.0 when it first came out as a Mac-only version. Ah, the days of rendering a chrome ball over water on a 20 MHz (yes, twenty) Mac IIsi with 17 whopping megs of RAM. My learning method has mostly been 10 years or so of scattershot experimentation. Maybe I should check out that "Real World Bryce" book! :)
Thread: Here's my overworked challenge entry... | Forum: Bryce
Thanks, all. I've left the image as is for the challenge not because I discount the value of your comments, but because I've neglected other projects for too long and just decided I have to be done with this one! But I will definitely apply your advice to future works. Perry, I've driven by that swimming hole many a time! Thanks for reminding me of it --and I'm glad the image evoked it for you!

What I'm doing with mine --and as far as I can tell, it's acceptable under Vile's guidelines-- is rendering trees in their own scenes with object masks and importing them into the main scene as 2D planes. You get a lot more mileage that way.

One thing that jumps out at me is that your two handrails have exactly the same texture. Some variation between the two would definitely enhance the realism. Otherwise, I like it a lot. Very atmospheric.

I'm thinking that the streambed would benefit from more trees. But that's just me. I like it overall.

Thanks, all! You hit on the areas I'm concerned about --but like a lot of people, I was starting to wonder if I'm not overworking it.
