LOL finally someone got that we were releasing bugs on CP. The other bit-0-corny fun was the first Freebie being a free bee. Coincidently we were talking of doing a mantis soon. Maybe we'll move it up a bit. Any other suggestions?
Also we're working hard on the updater and it's coming soon. The move did affect a lot of things as we knew it would. We're doing everything we can to keep the bugs on CP and not in P6.
It's going to take a bit before I'm used to ef and stop thinking CL and upper case. But ef is a great company.
Here are a few things about e-frontier:
e-frontier is a 30 million dollar company based in Tokyo and owns fully e-frontier America (formerly Curious Labs) and 8 other subsidiaries
We have over 200 software products including Poser and Shade
Shade, our flagship product in Japan has an install base that's greater than any other 3d software package in any market.
Poser our flagship product in the US is our main focus and will continue to be indefinitely
have a good night,
Steve

Thread: Do many people think that jessie and james will get that much support? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi everyone, Great thread, and it's good to hear all the opinions. Basically J&J are free, if you buy P6 of course. We have no immediate plans for breaking them out for everyone but the trend does seem to be, give the character away and sell the peripherals. CL is just in a different spot than those that do not create core software. I would also mention that comparing the DAZ figs to P6 at this point is apples and oranges. V3 vs. J1, and the DAZ figures have not always been free, and frankly there's a good bit of personal preference involved in all of this. We're really close on the content updater which will address the aforemetioned toe issues. I think there's plenty of room for many more characters and variety is always good. If I only have x amount of dollars to spend I like to have choices and I have spent a good wad of cash on Poser content, including DAZ stuff. That being said, we're really trying to support any content developer creating for any P6 character. It just grows the community and that's good for Poser. Also I wanted to mention that RDNA did not create the characters for P6. They did provide a lot of support for us in many different aspects. If you would like to know about Jessi click on the "Featured Image" on contentparadise.com. and there's a list of credits. James was done by a Japanese artist, Larry, Myself, and Les and is in no way based on any previous body or rig. There's also over 10 people that I know of currently creating morphs for him but he's in his infancy so they will start to come out soon I'm sure. Again RDNA has been really helpful with so many things. They really put a lot of work into P6 and I want to give them their props. Anyways thanks again for the comments we'll keep them in mind. Steve

Thread: so... how to get rid of P6 content tab? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
This is absolutely not true, the content tab has no effect on startup or shutdown time. Nothing loads until you access the tab.
CP is available directly from http://www.contentparadise.com. There is free content available to everyone, for example this and this. Or do a search on free, or click the "free stuff" link....we're also working on and adding tutorials, more free downloads, two more contests, developer support, and some more interesting stuff like ercs, and jcm's.
Thanks,
Steve
Thread: Cure for Jessi's Big Feet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I will not get into the pros and cons of slicing anything. Smells of Mac vs. PC :) I do want to say however that Dan Farr and DAZ have been very supportive of the Poser 6 release and of Curious Labs, as we are of DAZ and their contributions to the Poser community. Everyone involved would like to see these types of suggestions and assumptions a thing of the past. Steve Yatson Curious Labs

"Is is just going to be an exercise in reshaping? Will the polycount and vertex order of those affected parts be the same?" No geometry changes, anything we do will be in the cr2's. After this update we'll really try to stay away from anything that will bust any conforming clothing that you guys come up with. "Is the low-res a perfect subset of the hi? In otherwords, is the low the same excpet with many subdivisions dropped?" They were based on the same mesh but the order and count is different. Sze and Les both did a lot of work on these over many months during development. We also added an option to the target import to reorder the verts, BUT that can be a very complicated best guess since there are a lot of obj exporters out there. There are two progrmas I know of that can be set up to make a morph work on both characters, Z-brush(all software should aspire to be this good) and Maya( dsame thing), details on that would have to come from some others, maybe we can get them to do a tutorial. btw imho just because a Mesh is Hires doesn't make it better. In some cases it makes things worse. How the cage is laid out and efficient use of the polys for a particular situation is much more critical. In the case of Poser, the face is obviously one place where you want to see a lot of polys. Combine that with smoothing at render time and the need for an extremely HiRes mesh becomes less and less. You can open the python win >Print Info> scene inventory with multiple characters loaded and get a count for all figures loaded in the scene. thanks for the feedback

Hey, It seems we have a fix for the swappable geometry. It's in testing now and I'll let you know as soon as the plugins are available, Max and LW will both be updated. On the issue of the "random" rotation, we are looking into it but no word yet. Thanks again for letting us know. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************

Please be specific or send any questions to me. I'd like to help but really, this type of post does nothing to help anyone. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************

Thomas, I agree, you don't understand, so I'll explain. It takes time to gather and format information so that it can be displayed in a clear and concise manner thereby eliminating as many questions and as much speculation as possible. We didn't have time to do that. Had we, the answers to the majority of these questions, and a tutorial on how the protection works, and the process, could have already been available on our websight. This would have eliminated most of the speculation on the forum. I don't get where you think I or anyone else from CL was complaining in any manner. I stated several times that we just weren't ready yet. Not that implementing copy protection would be harder or easier on us. If anything it's harder on the community due to the fact that a lot of you are frustrated because you didn't hear it from us and you don't yet know what will actually happen and how it will actually work. Wouldn't it have been easier for you to get an announcement from us that also included a web link to the answers to your questions, and a clear explanation of the process? **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************

JeffH and ScottA, This is a problem for me. If you're moving messages I'm missing them. I am incredibly swamped and am trying to apease everyone. With the daily work that I already have going 12 hours or more it's difficult to read all these threads in one place, let alone several. If you could make an exception and leave the messages here for a while it would help me out a great deal. Thanks

Marque, >>>>>>>>>>>>>> CL never sought feedback on the copy protection scheme. In fact, privately I'll bet that Steve would prefer that the discussion go away >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I would prefer that publicly. :) I'd rather have everyone happy but it's just not to be. The very nature of what we are doing is obviously quite controversial. We thought about soliciting feedback publicly, and do have a very limited beta in place. We are also getting feedback on the protection from some larger production houses that have a lot of seats. But again the nature of what this is about is really what kept me from wanting to go public. Our plan is to release with adequate documentation, ramped up customer service, and basically to make sure everyone is well informed by presenting the information in a clear and concise manner right on the download page with the download links. We didn't get that opportunity. Unfortunately it came out this way and a lot of what has happened here was based on fear and misinformation.

Casamerica, I would consider 4 or 5 installs reasonable and would not want to prevent uou from doing that if needed. Removable media would be treated the same as any other app does. If there's components that are being looked for, you might be asked to insert the disk, or told that the drive is not available. I don't know how this would affect anything except that if I took a Jazz drive to another machine it wouldn't work, unless the OS and Poser app were both on that drive and the machine was booted from it. There's probably a little more to this than I know off the top of my head. The QA guys could probably offer more insight so I'll ask them to clarify. I can think of a few scenarios right now that I personaly don't know the answer to though.

Thanks for you rsupport. I know they just love the product. Even the people that complain about bugs and bash us. Otherwise they'd be on a different forum bashing a different company.
