Can these trees - or any trees come to that - be imported into other 3D programs, like..... Cinema4D?
Um... cmcc - which app do you mean? Giles or TreeD?
after importing either tree(d) files or b3d files into giles i was exporting them as object files and then importing them into bryce.
i was able to render some trees using agentsmith's advice but never anything to my satisfaction. i really only found it was useful to create bryce 2d files which i think u need to do if u r going to use bryce as an effective tool that can compete with the detail that u get with vue,

to sepearate the leaves and mesh u may have to ungroup the two. there is a little arrow at the lower right hand of the app that lets u choose the meshes with which u want to work.

u need to fiddle with the materials editor. u also need to select the correct mesh to edit leaves or trunk. the probhlem is mostly with the leaves and transparency. the materials should be there. they just need to be tweeked. agent smith did a better job with his example than i did with mine when i fooled with it. so u should probably check with him. i know it seemed like when i worked with .trd files the foliage on my trees seemed fuller.

i was playing with it some and if when u create your tree(d) program and create ur folder within your giles plugin folder. giles will let u load .trd files. tree(d)'s native format.

even though it doesn't save to .obj u can still make 2d objects with it which is probably best due to memory concerns anyhow.

Thread: Is there really a market for Bryce stuff? | Forum: Bryce
i really like bryce. i like it not so much because i can sell models that work in it but because i like to use it to make pictures and animations (which occasionally i sell or at least use at work for display) and to make backgrounds and background animations for poser. i find that it is very versatile and it seems just about anything i see done in vue i can do in bryce 6 especially with daz or by using poser figures and bryce backgrounds. i do a lot of models, animations, and poser morphs and i've given some away but i've never really sold them. i try without a lot of success to sell stuff like prints and tee shirts and what have you. so for me its more sensible to try to use products that aren't expensive and that i can make my own models for. since i'm pretty much a freelancer and most of the art that i do for my job i do using a lot of my own software, bryce makes sense for me.

Thread: Will there be a Poser 8? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
it seems to me that smith micro does seem to be trying to do a jig with vue. still vue is expensive. i consider it one of the less expensive proposer biggies that micro smith is trying to woo. i think bryce is a great program and it lets u use a daz plugin that lets daz animations fit right into the the bryce program. similar things i understand will be happening with the new carrara, i don't think daz is nearly as good or as professional as poser. but sometimes i fear poser may not want to compete as a professional program and instead be more of a plugin for the big boys and let daz take the amateur market.

Thread: Will there be a Poser 8? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i love poser and i think the upgrades have been super. i think poser 7 is awesome. i never did get poser pro because i can't afford the expensive programs that i would need to buy to make good use of it. i think daz has some really cool animation tools like animate and pupeteer. plus i wish the pose room could use some of daz's tools as well. i think some of daz's figures are better than poser's but i am still fond of the poser figures and i hope they keep them around. all and all i think poser with its cloth room, material room, hair room and its own cool animation tools is well ahead of daz. i like the way daz works so well with bryce and carrara some of its other programs: mimic, face shop etc. smith micro has some fairly cheap side programs why not make poser work well with them. i fear sometime that the poser pro commitment makes smith micro feel like it has to accomodate expensive programs instead of perhaps trying to trying acquire terragen, amorphium 3, truespace and trying to incorporate with one of these to broaden posers scope and depth.
