Barely visible, I'll admit, but she's there allright.
Cheers!

'Benjamina' would be such a crappy name for her, anyone have a better idea?
Cheers!

It's the answer by DAVIDGB, posted: 25 May 2013
For convenience I'll quote him here (hoping that's okay with him):
Quote - Many people don’t realise this, but DS already contains a tool to convert textures between different UV sets that the same figure has.
For example, let’s say you have an M4 texture set you want converting to the M5 UVs, In DS, if you have Genesis with the M4 and M5 UVs (of course you get the Genesis M4 UVs with the basic content, but get the M5 UVs by buying M5) you simply use the ‘Map transfer’ command in the surfaces menu, and DS will convert the M4 textures to the M5 mapping (that is, DS generates new jpegs of the textures, with the textures transformed, like with Textyre Converter 2 etc).
DS has actually had this function since DS3 and pre Genesis. If, in DS3, you were to load V4, say, then select the M4 obj as an alternate UV set for the V4, DS would convert V4 textures to M4 UV mapping and vice versa. The simple requirement for DS to convert textures from one UV mapping to another is that one figure (or prop) must have both the UVs to convert from and to available for it. With Genesis, of course, that means textures can be converted by DS between the V4, M4, V5, M5, A5, S5, H5, F5 UVs, plus those for the various Genesis custom creatures that come with separate custom UV mapping. But Genesis is not itself a requirement, just that a single figure or prop has both UV sets available for it.

Ooh, I'll have to see if I can find it again.
In the mean time there's this tutorial by SickleYield on DA:

For those curious (enough) to see what that looks like:

Thanks Doc!
Hey, I've learned a new trick today: converting UV maps using DAZ Studio's 'Map Transfer Utility'. Didn't even know it was there before I accidentally stumbled upon a discussion about it on the DAZ forum. I'm now rendering a test with M5 Benjamin textures on Victoria 6, and does she look sweet with them on! There's still sooooo much to learn.....
Cheers!

Man, I really luuuuve that dynamic cloth stuff!
It's a pain to pose, but absolutely worth the bother.
Dynamic robe for V4 on Victoria 6 (Genesis 2)

Sorry, I thought all of you here would recognize those textures, and that merely mentioning their names would be enough information.
[whisper mode on]
I bought all of them in the DAZ shop

And here's Leah V5 on Victoria 6 (also by Raiya):

That's all the textures I have that will fit V6, but if you've seen really good (realistic) textures for G2-V6 I'd sure like to hear about it.
Cheers!

Relax and enjoy your weekend like we all do Paolo : )
Another Victoria6 texture 'catalog' item: Olivia for V5, also by Raiya.
This being a darker skin I was surprised that the render settings I used for the others worked as well as they did for this one.
A preview version can be seen here:

Just added Raiya's new Daphne texture to my Victoria 6 skin catalog here on Rendo (and on DA)

This series makes it easy to quickly compare different textures on the same body with all render settings kept identical. Of course those settings are only a starting point, but they generally look nice already.
Cheers!

In science fiction movies you never see the heroes do simple maintenance jobs. But those fancy flying machines get dirty too, and who's gonna to scrub those dead bugs from the windscreen if they don't do it themself?

Another test render, now that it works : )
The light's a bit dull, and some of the materials in the scene need adjustment, but it turned out nice enough for a first try.

Quote - Hey, good sleuthing there Erik. Inverted normals can sneak in easily.
Glad that you have found the solution.
Sorry Paolo, I simply never expected DAZ Studio to do that kind of sneaking.
Things look a LOT better now:
Time to start working on some improvements/detailing : )
Cheers!

Nice one Doc! Lots and lots of detail (as usual).
I have to apologize to Paolo for blaming Reality and/or LuxRender for the troubles I've had with that Bubble Ship. Of course I couldn't let it rest, and just now I've found it's DAZ Studio that can do strange things to the .obj's you load in it. Actually just to be sure it wasn't that, I exported those parts that rendered black from DAZ Studio and opened them in MeshLab. Huh? Black??? indeed, inverted normals. SH*******T!
I then flipped the normals of those parts in MeshLab, reloaded them, and started a new render. BINGO! Nicely rendered surfaces for all parts.
There was more damage done to those parts other than inverted normals, but they were fine according to both MeshLab, NetFabb Studio and ZBrush before I loaded them into DAZ Studio! I don't know what DAZ Studio does to imported obj's, but it's not always for the best. Lesson learned!
Cheers!
Erik
