Once my artistic skills have developed to the point that I can easily detect the imperfections in any of my images, I either delete or update the offending image. Why? Because if the image isn't good enough for me, it probably isn't good enough for the most discerning gallery visitor. I do keep a few of my earliest images on my hard drive. Sometimes I look back at some of my earlier work and wonder "How on EARTH could I actually have thought that was good?!?" This is a good thing: it shows that my skillset is improving.
Thread: New anime figure--looking for suggestions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For many, the word "Anime" conjures up images of the "Japanese-animated" style, e.g. Voltron, DragonBall Z, G-Force/Battle of the Planets, Speed Racer, etc. If this is the look you are aiming for, I advise you to look at anime shows or comics(manga) or web images of anime characters, and compare their faces to the face of your character. And continue to work on your character until you can approximate that style. If this is NOT the look you are aiming for, and you're using the term "anime" in the general "cartoon character" sense, well, don't take this the wrong way, but you have tough competition to beat!: DAZ3d is offering Aiko3 for FREE, and you can purchase Animedoll from this website. There is a free MDK-101 character floating around, runtimeDNA offers LaRoo, and DAZ also offers the GIRL, Koshini and Rosy-Cheeks Lina. In my opinion, many people won't care much for your character unless it's as good as the ones already available. Best of luck.
Thread: Is my art professional quality yet? (NO nudity!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the helpful (and honest) responses! It is very hard to improve one's craft without honest, constructive & insightful criticism: there's so much one cannot learn unless others point it out! For example, hauksdottir brought up issues about focus that I didn't even realize existed.
It's one thing to realize that a certain picture isn't good enough, but another altogether to figure out exactly WHAT makes the picture not so good! And without the latter, no improvement can be made!
I appreciate the helpful advice and shall continue to work on improving my skillset.
Olivier-It is not my intention to become a professional modeller, but rather to create professional quality illustrations.
Any other critiques? The more the merrier!
