I just downloaded the 26 meg hi res trailer and retreived the Qt movie from my browser cache so i now have my own copy of the trailer to watch whenever i want. i cant wait!!! as far as software used this movie used Maya for modeling and animating and was rendered on a farm of over 95 hi end SGI workstation using the highly scripted renderman renderer. even on this powerful hardware setup the actual rendertime was YEARS!! as an example of the rendertimes involved in animation projects of this nature the first "Toy Story" from Pixar was rendered in parts on a farm of over 100 SUN solaris Enterprise II workstations with custom boards that supported 32 GIGS!! of ram!!! yet the total rendertime was still around 2.6 YEARS!! that means on a SINGLE Machine it would have taken 260 YEARS to render. Alias wave fronts Maya come in three versions i think MAYA-$7000 or so MAYA complete-$10,000 or so MAYA Unlimted- $15-$20,000 this is NOT!!! Software designed for the individual artist it is a special effects highend open source 3D interface for which you hire TEAMS!! of programmers usually on a project by project bases to write the complex scripting code to give it its true functionality Its learning curve is HUGE.!! but as you can see the results well are worth it for a team project Mocap

(700k MPEG) Thank for the response I wonder if a python script could accomplsh this task with some level of automation I know it possible to simulate this effect with tedious keyframing of variations of V2s large number of Morphs I tried to do a simple breast bounce in this Vicky1 walk cycle but the timing is way off and i even get a vibrating affect at one point. but my theory is sound i think Mocap

Vickie2 is far superior to posette in every aspect!!! ive owned the V2model for about a week now and I am amazed at the number of built in Morphs especially for the body. she is the perfect solution for those us who dont have time to go and download the various morphs and learn how to apply them and as MAc user I dont have all the free resources ported to my platform as PC users have. I cant imagine ANY circumstance in which I would use posette for anything ever again!! she looks like a plastic mannequin no matter what you do to her. as far as posette allegedly being "prettier" thats totally Subjective vicky and michael are the best thing that ever happened to Poser and i for one am glad they are here!! Hi its a motion file that is captured by using a real human with sensors attatched to his/her body The person then act s out a motion like tap dancing or boxing or whatever and this motion is captured as computer data and can be applied to a posable 3D character for realistic animation of the human form. It is a subject that is as hotly debated as Pro choice vs Prolife in many of the hardcore character animation forums /lists that I visit because many animators see it as somehow "cheating" but i think it is a good technology when used properly and can save alot of production time if you do alot of character animation. the link above is to a small 660k mpeg animation where a BVH sexy walk was applied to the victoria model the secondary motion such as the swinging hair and bouncing breasts were key framed manually by me on top of the BVH motion. Shudder!!! I Use the "two hard drive" method on my Mac G3 My main drive is a quantum 20 GIG and i have a second internal hard drive that I call "site B" it contains a complete copy of my entire applications folder (5 gigs alone!!) a complete copy of all of my system/application extensions fonts, and my entire internet folder with bookmarks etc. Mac OS versions of applications are like completely self contained little Mini-operating systems and can therefore be simply copied via drag and drop from one location drive to another fully intact without having to actually reinstall them from the CD in their "Barebones" factory state. My self imposed backup policy is Draconian whenever i make a major change to a poser prop or figure library I delete the the entire poser4 folder from the backup drive and replace it with the most recent copy from the main drive. I Dont even bother with any of that Norton Disk doctor/diskwarrior rescue crap!! My policy is zero tolerance in regards to a malfunctioning system I have no problem starting up from th OS Cd rom and directing the mac os drive setup utility to intitialize my main drive completely erasing it!! because i can be fully restored from "site B" in one hour this may sound extreme but I sure do sleep better at night What backup /recovery schemes do you guy/gals use??? Unfortunately i used the 3D Disperse and Rotate command when i should have just chosen the 3D Disperse only. im such a post effects nut i tend to get sloppy on the pricinpal "photograhy" some times because im so anxious to get to the post production. thanks for the comments Mocap
