Thank you Boni,
but that didn't really answer my initial questions:
IF so, it might become a new standard for morph injections, and it would be an incredibly amazing feature. However, "IF* this was just a "coding accident" which went away again in SR x.whats.its.number, then it would be utterly useless.
Think of content creators, and how easily they could develop new morphs. Not just for figures, but it could be done for any content - hair, clothing, even props to parent to a figure.
But there's more: No more need to worry for "channels" in third-party clothing: Just create a morph for a particular piece of third-party clothing, select the piece of clothing, and click. WOW!
Thus, I do repeat my question:
Does this feature still exist in PP2014 past SR3, and in subsequent Poser versions?
Thank you!
Peter

Well, that sounds like a good idea.
By all means much better than having to learn Blender first - if I had to do that then the figure would probably be ready in the year 25-25, and people would ask "Minecraft - WHAT?"
So use the tools you already know to get the best result you can achieve NOW - and fast! Before Minecraft becomes just another forgotten computer game... and your son has become a mid-aged IT specialist.
Just a thought. Best regards.

Ah, no problem with this - better safe than sorry. Thank you!

[...]As far as changing the end point on the hip? You should be able to just grab the end point with the translate tool (while in set up room) and move into position. Or enter numeric values in the joint editor end point axis fields. [...] editing the values in the .cr2 to no effect, which in most cases is a brute force tactic. [...]
Yes that's indeed the case - none of this works, the end point stays pinned to the right - no idea why.

Peter

Well, what can I say?
I'm sorry - I should have looked deeper under the hood before posting this!
Though it worked quite well for me for about a month now, I examined various options today and found out that strange things are happening:
So I'll probably discard the idea for now; sorry for having wasted your time!

Peter
P.S.:
@ EldritchCellar,
thank you for your warning about "The Wrath Of DAZ".
Actually, it's another weight mapped version of V4 - that's what I meant by "loosely based..." because of course the rig is my own, but has to fit the V4 geometry.
IF I should decide to share my figure, then it would be in the same way as the "PoserPlace" or "Alphaseed"s versions were shared: "Possession of original V4 mandatory, and no actual mesh data included; just offsets for morphs, and weight maps."

@ gmm2:
If it works for you this way, then it's fine - leave your Poser installation alone. Remember: If it works, don't change it!
It's just a minor nuisance, compared to a complete re-install and all the hassles that come with it.
Happy Posering!

P.P.S.:
This forum software is a joke.
In my previous message, edited to add the postscriptum, I meant to set the P.S.:" in BOLD, and the addendum "(Just read your last reply)" in ITALICS.
Instead, it ended up like you can see...
"**P.S.: **_(Just read your last reply) _"
No text formatting...

You can also select the library's "load" behaviour manually by selecting a library item, and then either clicking (bottom left) the single checkmark (== replace) or the double checkmark (== add to) - no matter what your basic settings are.

If it still doesn't work, then there's obviously something wrong with your Poser install.
Obviously indeed, because it works fine for all others here...

Hello
You know that you can apply .mt5 and .mc6 files without ever entering the material room?
Prerequisite is, of course, that you've selected the correct figure/prop to which it should be applied!
**One big difference is that **
Another big difference is flexibility: With .mt5 files, you can replace a material completely, or just add a certain node set while leaving the current material as is. This gives you the option of adding "features" to any existing material... Granted, you'll have to know your way in the Advanced Material Room to wire them up correctly, but I wouldn't want to miss this feature.
PLUS, as it has already been mentioned, an .mt5 file can be applied to any material zone, be it figure or prop. You can't ever do this with a .pz2 set because the material zone are "carved in stone"! (Also note the other limitation - a figure must always be present in the scene. A nuissance if you just want to try out materials on a prop...)
All that said, and to sum it up:
If I find a material (collection) in .pz2 format which is really good and worth keeping, I convert it to an .mt5 or .mc6 file when I install it, to benefit from the advantages described above.
If the material is bad (no matter what file format), I don't use it. I make a mark in my Little Red Book instead, to be cautious before buying more from this vendor...
... which brings us back to the "quality" issue as brought up by the OP.
**Let's keep this discussion going, because it's interesting. But please let's stay civil. ** Regards,
Peter

Umm, I think people are so busy trotting out arguments that they missed the forest for the trees.
Ero is first and foremost making PE for -his own purposes-. Just as he did all the McGuyvering known as Lali's Bits for V4; it was for -his- comics. The impression I've gotten is that he's kind of gotten dragged into selling his non comic content. Or put another way, IMHO he doesn't give a rat's fuzzy ass about the 'vendor market' and all its nonsense and the self proclaimed pseudo experts proclamations. He isn't looking to be the next Davo or Stone Mason or anyone else. He isn't cackling maniacally over a modeling program, waiting for lightning to strike the kite flying on a copper wire to help create THE V4 KILLER.....!!!!!(add ramping reverb+echo). He's making a figure for his own creative needs, and is proving kind enough to actually share that with the rest of us.
Why does he keep bringing up V4? because like a lot of us, he has a lot of clothing for said mesh, and he would like to continue using it in his comic projects. Which makes sense when you think of things as resources, not fetish objects. The more existing resources can be used, the less interruption in workflow exists when moving to newer, more capable tech (face it kids, V4 is still Poser 4 tech with a big helping of community created kludges to make it halfway work right).
I'm more than happy to wait for him to get things right, and judge things on the actual result. Not on what so and so thinks or 'everybody knows'. Remember, everybody 'knew' that the world was flat, once. Ooops.
One word: THIS!

Most characters have dial-spun bodies to make it easier for the customer to use clothing. Most clothing only contains the morphs for the standard morph packages, so if you use a custom body morph, fitting can be a problem.
DreaminGirl - That's another very important point! Especially if people use P10 without the option of "copying morphs" into the clothing.
I didn't think of that hitherto - you did. Well done!
