Thread: Black and white question | Forum: Photoshop
in CS5 (not up to 6 yet...) there is a nice technique in the flyout menu for "actions". click the little arrows to pop out the menu and select LAB to add the set to the actions panel... then click the Toner Technique - hit "play"...
works pretty good for me!

Thread: overlaying a new render exactly onto the old one in photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
if the two files are the same size and resolution you can choose "duplicate layer" and choose the other file (both files need to be open) as the target. it should place the layer in the exact same position as the source file.
another trick is to change the colour mode of the placed layer to "difference" and move it around until it is mostly (if no changes, then completely) BLACK. this means all the pixels are aligned. you can then switch to whatever colour mode you want. (remember to "upper" layer needs to be set to Difference or you won't see the effect)
hope this helps

Thread: Can creative cloud give you webspace for you to make a website? | Forum: Photoshop
i liked playing around with Muse as well and hope it becomes all the things GoLive never was!!!
It seems to be built for designers and those who want great functionality without spending four weeks on the code side of it.
i've always thought of iWeb as Apple's version of Frontpage - great for quick-and-dirty sites but much of it looked templated...
mind you, you can use a cloud to store all your bits-and-pieces of a site while your building it but i can't think of any that will host it.

i'm assuming you'll be using PS to do the editing correct? if so, what version?
in CS5 there are a few tools that may be useful...the "content aware fill" might do the trick for you. it's a new tool that matches lighting, tone, and noise so it looks like the deleted content never existed.
can you post a partial of an image that i can test my theory on?

Thread: Help, Want to make my own album pages but | Forum: Photoshop
do you mean you want to create a "web" photo gallery in PS?
if so, in previous version of PS (prior to CS4) it was under FILE --> AUTOMATE --> WEB PHOTO GALLERY
Now in CS5, you need to do it in Bridge... it's under OUTPUT TO WEB.
not sure if this is what you're asking about or not. if i'm way-off-base let me know.

Thread: Any news of new versions of Photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
dreamer is right, you can't get two version behind PS or you'll pay dearly. i think they'll have some window of migration if you just got CS5 before the release of 6. that might be the route to go.
it seems nowadays you have to upgrade whether you want (need) to or not, or face starting over (cost-wise)

Thread: Why Would Somene Use Painter And Photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
for me, it's the surfaces that painter has to offer (as dreamer pointed our) that steps it up from photoshop. i know you can scan different paper surfaces and PS even has canvas textures but the way painter interacts with the chosen surface while you are working fantastic.

Thread: Need your thoughts on a touch screen Photoshop tool! | Forum: Photoshop
looks sweet.
agreed with most of the comments posted, so i didn't want to just add an "i agree" to the thread.
to me (as a traditional painter), looking down to the desk to pick a tool is no dif then looking down to my paint palette to load colour onto my brush.
please keep us up-to-date

Thread: 3D function in CS5 - Materials | Forum: Photoshop
i've just done things the same way i do with brushes...
click on the "pop-out" (triangle) menu (icon) and choose New Material
if you want to know where they end up (so you can LOAD them when you want), they are in the PRESET --> MATERIALS folder with the extension .p3m
hope this is what you were asking...
