Thanks guys, I got the free space wrong should have been 9 gigs free. Usually I can set up a maximum scene with props + 6-7 characters inc 2 mill figures + 12 lights and render it with the help of cacheman and a bit of sweating for up to 20 minutes. I've found the freeze up to be mostly some characters in my "new figures" library, obviously freebies that came without textures. I have spent a couple of hours checking them and assigning new textures to them where neccessary. There are still about 10 to go and as from now I'll immediately follow up and test anything I install. Upgrading the PC further would be like Christmas here but the budget looks fairly bleak, cant even afford a new mouse pad right now. Your good advice was appreciated, thanks again, Tommy.

Update, I installed "Star downloader" free from ZDnet and successfully downloaded the big zips. The website connections dropped a few times but did resume. For anyone else with similiar problems, I've included the URL. Tommy.Thread: Render question. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks guys, I think you are making sense, right now I'm reading the PDF manual. (on lights) Tommy.

Thanks Little Dragon, feeling stupid now but glad I asked. Never realised the full body morph existed, perhaps Vickie should come with an airline pilots licence as she has more controls than a 747. Tommy.

I have win98 and only 156 meg of ram! all the advice here has been good especially saving the PZ3 scene first in case you need to C/A/D. The little gizmo that I keep recommending is "Cacheman" memory manager from ZDnet or Cnet downloads.
You can boost memory before and during rendering, now even when free ram is at 00 I can still manually tweak it to recover. Last night I rendered a 20meg with 5 figures and a pile of objects and lighting, granted it was slow (15mins) but would have froze solid without cacheman. Another trick I found to relieve the render constipation is open and shut Outlook express (offline) this is a very final resort as either Poser will kickstart or everything freezes. #@pz!+F"

I've had my two penneth worth.
Been tried and convicted by my peers.
Have retired my soap box.
Now going back to my corner to design a "pay as you go" sexual content website.
Seems quite respectable to post a link to it on the board here, most everyone is agreeable.
Amen, Tommy.

Most obvious too that this is not the correct forum for your type of depraved recruitment garbage, I suggest you slime through the galleries at www.renderotica.com and contact some of the artists there. Meanwhile, "Dear Dorothy Dix" if I need any specialist advice on advanced masturbation techniques, I promise you will be the first hands-on expert in that field I consult.

Thats why your website is full of porn popups,eh! if you are getting so many paid hits a day you wouldn't need the stick sites to pay your rent. Bottom line.... Yes! you would need a sick puppy a lot less talented and intelligent than me.

What a load of typical SPAM BULLSHIT!, this is just a cheap scam aimed at attracting new customers to his soft porn paysite. I hope the mods lock and delete this thread quickly.

Thanks hogwarden, I have reinstalled both without any luck. Did have this problem once before and they turned up in a strange folder but cant remember where, obviously too many hours at work today has clouded my memory.

Try "cacheman" it solved all my Poser freezing and stalling probs on Win98 with only 156 megs of ram. Tommy.Thread: Ran out of Memory on LifeForm387 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Emily you have my sympathy, I have a 3yo HP pavilion on Win98 that really struggles with Poser despite upgrading to 146meg ram and a 20 gig HD. Most times I have to save a drawing then reboot the PC before rendering or risk a freeze from Poser due to exhausting the ram. Tonight I picked up a tip from the Daz faq tech board, downloaded and installed Cacheman memory manager from ZDnet. Let the wizards optimise the settings, so far so good! ,Poser is working faster, done several multi figure renders and no freezes, even web pages are much faster opening despite 2 programs and a download all happening right now (really pushing my luck!) Next test is windows media player which often crashes my system. This info may not help you on XP but other users with underpowered systems like mine have nothing to lose by trying Cacheman.

Thread: New Tutorial for Newbies!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Very good Ron, I picked up at least two things I didn't know from it. Only dissapointing area was the screenshots lose a bit of the poser text detail, possibly the jaggies in PDF. Presume you are using the Distiller not the Writer. One of our local PC magazines this month has full version Lotus Millenium suite on the cover disc, I was interested to read there is a facility included to make commented tutorial movies that can be distributed without special player software required. I'll be trying it out in the next few days for file size and view quality etc, will let you know if it has any great merit compared to PDF. Meanwhile keep up the great work, I'm sure the new bods will be very grateful.

Thread: P4 Male has lost his hips | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm no expert and may be wrong, but forget viruses, they attack OS and registry files not Mr Dorks weenie. My guess is P4 man object file has somehow corrupted. I lost some files in Poser once and took advice from the guys here and just re-installed the program over the top without removing it. They assured me I wouldn't lose any of my libraries but Thomas by name and by nature I still saved a lot of my characters and props to Zip and CD. However everything went as they predicted, the backups weren't necessary and everything worked fine again. Another thought I'm not sure about that genital prop you mentioned but it may have a bearing if the file is in the wrong folder or are you using a Mike object on P4, also did you turn off genitals on the figure? or make it invisible? You used the word "hidden" if object/properties menu/ hip = invisible there goes your lost hip! The correct way to hide his objet-de-art is go to Figure/menu and uncheck Genitalia. These last thoughts are probably the first points to check before a re-install routine. Incidentally I'm impressed, only 150 meg ram and 20 gig hard drive here.
Hope that helps, Tommy.
