I'm glad to see V4-WM is still available. I was heavily involved with beta testing back in the day. Went away for several years myself. Trekkigrlll (that's a name I recall from long ago).

Does Poser follow the Windows pointer rules or does it make its own? For Windows you've got options in the Control Panel- 1 Ease of Access to change the pointer size and colour and 2 Mouse Properties for pointer trails and show pointer with the Ctrl keyboard button.

It's should be safe to tell your Antivirus to ignore the Poser runtimes, render cache and save directory

You could take a Maggie T clone and weaken it down a lot

I didn't mean to go OT but adding runtimes is mentioned at the bottom of the OPs second post

In order of ease of installation

1 Add more memory- less time swapping data to disk.

2 Change the hard disk to SSD (solid state disk)- no moving parts gives quicker disk access. Poser writes a temporary file whilst rendering. Computer start up will be quicker. Your existing HD can be copied to the SSD so no need to re-install anything. Current HD can be kept either internally or externally via USB

3 Change the CPU for a quicker one and/or more cores. Options limited by compatibility with the motherboard

If your computer is under warranty it may be invalidated if the upgrades aren't made by the manufacturer

Just above the library list and to the right are two icons that look like books on a shelf- the tool tips are Add or Remove library. Click on Add Library and you will get a file browser window. You will need to navigate to your DAZ runtime- you need to select to the folder the runtime is in NOT the actual runtime folder. Click OK and after the folder is indexed you are good to go. You change to the runtime you want with the drop down on the left, just above the library list. You can have as many runtimes as you like to organize content how you like eg by artist or genre

I've not done this myself and I've no idea of your IT skills but here are a few suggestions.

I would use a spread sheet and use column A for the Asset name. If required use column B and C for the filename and runtime location. I would then go across with the page and frame location. Keep it simple an just put an x in a cell if the asset is used.

If you want to keep the layout compact then make the spread sheet mimic the project- make a WorkSheet tab at the bottom for each page for easy flipping between pages. You can copy and paste Column A from one worksheet to another to save retyping the asset names

After adding several asset lines you can sort them in name order- make sure you select ALL the cells (except the headings) before sorting. In Exel you define your data as a table to make this easier

If you have more data than one screen then you can keep your row/column headings on screen by selecting the first cell you want to scroll and us Freeze Panes (in View toolbar if using Exel )

As above, check out using Tables if you're an Exel user

Use the same workflow as Poser- save on a regular basis and Save As with a modified filename if you're not sure about a change - no Undo :)

I've used 7-Zip for quite some time but I assume WinZip etc work the same. You can actually open the folder structure in 7-zip to get to the runtime folder. When you extract it only extracts the path from that point down. It also keeps a list of recent destination folders so you can quickly jump to selected external runtimes

Use the Install button in the Updates section of SM Downloader. As hborre says, it does all the hard work for you as it remembers where Poser is installed and puts all the update files in the right place.

You will need to use SM Download Manager. There are two tabs- one for the **Installers ** for Poser and the supplied content and one for Updates. Any available should show, download if need be and then install
