Quote - I do have another question.
I will need to transfer the data from my current computer to the new one.
I do have a router, but I can't remember the password and stuff, and the OS on each computer is different (current desktop has Windows 2000) so setting up a network isn't straight forward because I tried to do it between my desktop and laptop and couldn't manage to get it figured out.
Anyway, I think you can do it by direct transfer using some kind of cable. What kind of cable do I need to get in order to do that?
Â
You can use a cross-over ethernet cable. Any local computer shop should have them.

A couple of comments:
I've had a local shop build several computers for me. Two of them were fine. One seems prone to hardware problems since the get-go.
You can often get really good deals from HP and Dell, they typically offer either free or at a minimal cost two of the following: disk upgrade, DVD drive, printer, monitor etc.

Cheaper than Jail Time? Cheaper than being constantly harassed by the law because some starlet turned out to be underaged?Â
Â
Odd you should mention this. My brother's new commercial venture http://www.alpineshelter.com/ deals with preventing that sort of problem.

I was surprised today if I controlled my minimized Poser with my webbrowser. Poser runs mutch smoother and renders faster.
Â
How do you control it from your browser?

I found a pretty good one at Poserworld -- it is listed as "Missionaries Daughter", but looks pretty good.

Unfortunately, I don't think the V3 morph is available anymore, at least I couldn't find it.

Thread: V4 Textures: Expensive??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Personally, I don't mind paying good money for a very good texture as I will get a lot of use out of it and I realise the work involved in creating it. But, further to a previous post I made, it still bugs me that virtually none of the vendors creating body textures for V4 are quoting map sizes when their items hit the stores... there are a couple of textures I was tempted by, but I'm sticking with the one I got with my V4 Daz package - if vendors can't be bothered to put a couple of lines in their promo telling me the textures sizes, I'm afraid I can't be bothered to buy it.
Â
My pet peeve is them not listing whether they use shaders or not.
Thread: V4 Textures: Expensive??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Another, and probably major reason, is that many of the V4 characters take advantage of P5+ shaders. There inexpensive V4 characters out there, but most of them seem to be built to PP standards. All of the DAZ, and most of the Poserpro exclusive V4 characters take advantage of the shaders, and some of them also include light sets.

Quote - Oh, and about whether Islam bans depictions - just remember that the Judaeo-Christian Bible also bans such things: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth ..."
What differs is how you interpret that and whether you choose to obey it or not.
Â
There is no Judaeo-Christian Ten Commandments. There is a Jewish interpretation, and multiple Christian interpretations. (Heck, even how they are numbered varies.) The Jewish interpretation of the 2nd Commandment links the graven image clause with the prohibition against other gods. (For Jews, the first commandment is "I the LORD am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage".)

Quote - Actually, traditional Islam does forbid all images, not just of humans. Which is why decorative Islamic art is entirely made up of abstract patterns. But I don't think there is any modern Islamic country that forbids images in general as part of the legal code.
Â
The Taliban defaced/destroyed/prohibited from exhibition works of art because they had images of animals on it. Informally, they would allow depictions of animals in a landscape, but if there were too many in the painting they would decide it was actually a depiction of the animals. I saw on TV how the curator of the Kabul Museum of Art had painted over (on the paintings glass) five of seven ducks in a stream in a 19th century landscape painting until it was deemed acceptable.

Quote - (I know of a comic years back that had thrown Batman into the background of one scene as a bit of a tribute. The Comic publisher was sued, the comic was cancelled and a lot of people got into a lot of trouble.)
(Tributes and spoofs are a very grey area and you tred on shaky ground legally speaking.)
Â
Do you have a reference for this? I've seen Batman show up in a lot of background scenes, for instance in Alan Moore's "Top 10". (Of course, when he makes these cameos the artists are careful to only show his head, and not show his emblem. Often he isn't wearing a cape. Of course, then he can actually be mistaken for the old DC hero "The Cat".)
As to the APC, it sure looks a heck of a lot like the M577 from Aliens; not to be confused with the real M577 series. Its not as if the M577 was based closely on a real-world vehicle. (You can get away with SF guns similar to Han Solo's blaster since that was basically a Mauser Pistol with a scope and some fiddly bits.)
Thread: P7- How do I turn off texture filtering in P7 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is there a script which allows you to turn off texture filtering by object/figure? Texture filtering doesn't work so well on transmapped hair, or on skin, but you might still want it for the background. Hopefully EF will address this in an SP.
Thread: Poser 7 the resorce hog. What kind of pc do you need for this program? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've found that mixing shadow-map shadows and raytracing tends to slow renders down tremendously. I've also found that ray-tracing is almost as fast in P7 as using shadow-maps was in P6. (About the only reason I can see for using shadow maps now is to take advantage of being able to render over existing shadows.)
