Quote - You always could use poses from different figures. I regularly use Posette poses with Vicky3. Usually they only require slight modification, except maybe to the hands - but applying a stock hand pose corrects that.
I even have that problem when applying poses to figures anyway. If you've morphed a female figure at all, you have to adjust nearly all crossed hands poses; if you are using a seated pose, you have to modify based on seat hight and shoewear; if you are using a pose where the figure touches itself you have to modify it if it is wearing clothes.
Thread: OT: What does it mean when.... (tech issues) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sounds like it was probably a power or heat problem. When you replaced the card, did you notice that there was a lot of dust inside? You can get a can of compressed gas and solvent for cleaning computers (or get one from a camera store which just uses a squeeze bulb), and that can really help. If you've upgraded your machine, you might get an additional fan. (I was having the same problems you were, and eliminated them by aggressive cleaning and an auxilary fan.)

Quote - Yeah, but people have been suckling P4's teat now for SO many years it;s hard to wean them. Heck a LOT of people STILL use the P4 renderer in P5, loosing out on it's rendering advancements.
Some people are even still using the P4 renderer in P6!
I've used it for one of my renders -- for some reason I kept getting artifacts in firefly on a particular prop.
Thread: Poser 7 Delivers Brush-like Morphing Tools | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I would think it would work on any figure. Whether it be human or building, or prop, or what have you. It works on a mesh, or so I take it. Could make for some interesting variations on a lot of things.
It will certainly make drag-queen renders easier, and hunchbacks. And hunchback drag-queens.

Thread: Looking for tattoos on maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - For areas of the back, I'd recommend that one work with V2/M2 textures, and then UTC them to V3 or M3 if that is the figure desired. That way, one advoides haveing to split a tattoo image in half and then trying to match up seams.
I apply my tattoos in layers, usually three. The first layer is usually a burn color layer, over which a I apply an Overlay layer, followed by a Normal layer, but set at between 50%-85% opacity.
What is the purpose of the burn color layer? Does it matter if you are using just a black tatoo? I've always used a normal layer at about 50% opacity over the tatoos. (Actually, sometimes I use an additional selection at a higher opacity -- the opacity which works for one tatoo doesn't always work for another.
One hint that I will make is that if the original skin doesn't come with a bump map, use the original for a bmp map rather than the tatooed version. (Same goes for eye makeup.) I have an otherwise very nice render where it looks like the character troweled on the mascara ...
As a side note, I also paint miniature figures, and I usually do tatoos on them with a fine felt-tip, and then paint over with the base skin tone mixed with clear (Future Floor Acrylic) to get the same effect of the tatoo being in the skin.
Thread: Really Seriously Important P7 Question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I co-owned (with my younger brother) an Apple II with 16 K of addressable memory, fixed-point basic, four-color "high-res" or 16 color (low-res) graphics, using a Radio-shack cassette recorder for secondary storage, a pixiverter to connect to channel 3 or 4 on a TV (later pixie-verters connected in the UHF band to avoid interfering with neighbors), and two paddles for gaming action. The serial number was in the three hundreds. It was sufficiently early in the production run that they hadn't started putting the "shark-gill" vents on the case, so it tended to build up heat -- when it did one of the ICs in the motherboard would pop up, and something strange would happen to the programs. (Two of the letters were replaced -- I think p became h, and m became v). This happened with distressing frequency. My brother eventually bought a joystick for it (the one that looked like an apple), more memory, a floppy drive, and a 9" monitor. Then it caught on fire and the motherboard melted.
Thread: Is there ballerina content for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

I have the two-sisters set. I've been having problems with the rendering using Firefly, but I did the following (in my gallery) using the Poser IV renderer http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1310287&member
I really like the poses -- they provide partial poses for the legs, each arm, and the feet for a variety of ballet positions.
Thread: Morphs and rendering time. Do morphs matter? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Remove morphs worked well. I'm now going to see if it can remove the unused morph channels from some of the character hair (which has a bunch of channels as well).
Thread: Small Boobs and V3.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What morphs are you using? Have your tried the lower numbered breast-size morphs (standard DAZ morphs)? Breast-size 1 as setting 1 is almost flat.

I see. I've used SVDL's SpawnCharacter morph to get a single morph for a character, mostly in order to use MorphManager with it, but found that the problem with creating a single morph is it makes conforming clothes harder. I also found that I was noticing differences between my figure as I created it in a character file, and when I used a minimized injection file. (Don't know why really.) I've gone to just using the PZ3s for my continuing characters. (Almost all of my art is based around a handful of characters, so I'm willing to trade space in my runtime for convenience). It sounds like RemoveMorphs works while Poser is running, so that is probably the way to go...
thanks a lot folks

It looks to me that I can just run SVDL's RemoveMorphs once I've got all the figures posed. Of course, if I need to change their expressons, or whatever afterward, then I will need to reinject, but I don't think that its much of a problem. It looks like I can even dispense with the exclusion files once I'm ready for a final render. Thanks a lot, I think this will help.

Quote - I had a customer who demanded that we change the French word "tampon" to "buffer" in her documents, and it did no good to point out that in French, Kotex is not a "tampon," which is a French word for a kind of paper, borrowed by the French computer industry to avoid having to use the Anglo-Saxon word "buffer" (and the French hate borrowing from English, as their computer vocabulary will tell you). Of course, it was also borrowed from French (tampon, that is) by Americans to give "rag" some panache. And "rag," which used to be the literal word for "tampons," became insulting.
It is also a variant (usually American, and not in current use) for "tampion", the technical term for a plug or cover used on a cannon or gun muzzle to protect it from debris and weather.

Quote - This sytem has 750MBs RAM, 1GB Virtual Memory, and..well, 1 GB left on the C: Drive. I'm going to try to increase the Virtual memory to 5.25GBs(750MBs + 2GBs for Windows, 2GBs for Poser, and then if I want to open Photoshop...)
The 1 GB left on the C drive is the problem. Windows uses unused space on the C drive for the virtual memory, so you are probably running out. Try moving everything you can to another drive. One of the problems with Windows is that no matter where you install software, there will be a footprint left on the C drive, so it will fill up even if you don't install to it.

I asked Syltermermaid about it when I bought the character (Azumi) and she said that it was painted.
