@bhoins I would use your skies in my animations or UE4 tomorrow you nailed it! The depth is just great. In film/animation we spend a fortune for the tools to give us the best possible quality HDR, UltraHD, 4K all sounds good from the sales department then at the post production stage most of the time we dirty it all up with filters so it don't look so sterile.

Looks like it could be dropping below the ground plane mesh Dome Orientation XYZ will control your dome position in your render setting Environment
If that is the ground level poking through considering the ocean you are using covers entire area In your Render Setting Environment scroll down bottom to the Draw Ground button and see if it is switched to off. This would allow light to poke through giving you this appearance however switching it on would only create a negative effect dark bits instead of light in your set and not solve the issue. I am not sure of your set but figure if it was going to be easy you could move it up a whisker until issue solved. You can also change the Ground position as opposed to moving the whole dome(The mesh would remain in same place moving dome as set to zero)
So just above the Draw Ground button > Ground Position Mode >Auto by default - click and change to manual and use the additional Ground Origin options that miraculously appear directly underneath. (There is double what you think Daz has on offer hidden in options) Do not expect your ground plane (Wire mesh) to move it won't but in Daz the gizmo Y is up/down so select Ground Origin Y slider and go left a little until you get desired result. I am not 100% certain as I am not sure of your process, it is the mesh in my opinion. The mesh does not show in render but any light/ground options will hence anything below mesh will shadow/light incorrectly or if solid ground disappear. This will correct the shadowing as the lows in the ocean will be above the new ground level and then the appropriate shadowing will follow
Might be bit hard in mini viewport to see if desired effect although that does stick out a bit. Good looking ocean waves BTW

A run of the mill render fail of mine and was supposed to be a image of my dog sleeping but I just had to mess with those additional render settings all while believing I actually know what I am doing. This one turned out pretty good in comparison as you should see all the others. Thanks for bringing it to everybody's attention I will now go hide in shame.

Thread: odd render distortion with IRay | Forum: DAZ|Studio
When you are all set to render what you see in the aux viewport? if it looks like that on right change the aux viewport camera view to the same as your main window. Been caught a few times I don't always use the viewport but when I do and its open I noticed that if I click render it will be that camera Iray uses not the main preview screen

You would need to use the HDRI maps I believe so try google free HDRI maps if just testing when you see one then you will also realize where they would go in your render setting Environment Map click on the thumb pic and browse to find I just loaded one up for render looked okay you can adjust your time of day etc to suit and if the map does not fall right ie all cloud try the rotate to get the right balance of sun sky. You will need your render set to iRay in your mini viewport few seconds each spin to render preview
Hopefully someone will weigh in and point you in the right direction to obtain some that are set up completely for this system or available from store
Type this into YouTube it might help with other areas with IRay as well

Hope it helps

Just give me a minute to open up Daz as I am in other software I think sun-sky should be option under the dome and scene button. From memory the dome and scene using the default enviro map was pretty ordinary indeed I will just check. (99% export out of Daz myself :-)

That is fine and it is what a forum is about. Few months down the track you will be helping others as all this will be fresh in your memory.
When you put the dome there think of it as it was once sunny outside but you just closed the blinds.
First few IRay renders I pretty much left it as standard and got good starting point and reasonable result by leaving things be. Then on the third render get a little adventurous. You can always click cancel render and once it stops close render window and go back and adjust back or forwards depending on what you had done. I just set up my scene and chose the Dome and Scene in Render Setting Panel (Covered bellow) I did not play with much
if you remove the skydome and any lights it had with it and revert back to just the Iray system you will be set. All you should be left with is the default camera and the content you added to make your scene. If you see things like point light and distant light chances are they were added same time as your dome if any were added at all. Lights are fine to add but might be overkill on your set as not really added by you as an improvement more to work in conjunction with the Daz dome.
You can remove the stuff you want by selecting them in your scene panel (tab) Highlight yellow right click and choose delete. You can hold control and select more than one object too
I assume you have the image the dimensions you want.
So in your Render Setting Panel(Tab) Under Environment Setting you will see the option to use Dome and Scene(Good start point this) and Infinite Sphere(leave it too) you have various tweaks you can make but get feel for it first. Then started with the sundial onto a few characters etc
Your computer has reasonable specs so it would not be long before you get a general idea of what you are going to get. I set it up then hit render within few minutes even though bit grainy if a face or prop or something is washed out I know I carried away with those tweaks. Stop Render Close Adjust and start again.

First thing I come across in the transition myself arrow1 the Skydome causes a Iray render to go black. Delete it and use the built in skydome that is found as a button on your render settings panel. By using the Daz dome you block out the light emitters as it is a solid object. There is also the Iray Sundial in your content library. The Iray dome can be altered with a HDRI maps

Just to speed things up for you and save delayed response. If you have opened the DIM and checked the box with the tick on Daz 4.8 and clicked on the Start Queue on bottom left and it does absolutely nothing. then try to reset the DIM by leaving it open Then in your Start panel on Windows 7 in search box type in Task Manager and select, when it opens choose Daz Install Manager should be on top- just click on the name it will highlight blue. Down bottom right click END TASK that way Windows is knocking the DIM of its perch you are not just closing the DIM via DAZ . Start the DIM again and give it a try. If this is still the same then the installer itself is faulty is either a logging issue or it will need to be removed and a fresh new install

Download is one tab - Install is another tab they are not together so what I was asking is at what point are you getting to and when does it fail
Download tab it does not download at all or only part of it and you get message on that right progress bar "Download failed"
it downloads fine but
Install tab You click to install and it does nothing or you accept the pop up for access for Daz to alter hard drive and it fails which you get message "Install Failed"
as stated above there is big difference and can't give you the possible answer you seek without this info

Good point because if you didn't put "Smart" in front of this I would have said save it as a Support Asset >figures/props I am not sure why you wouldn't go the same route anyway. Did you try?
