To see what the Terrain editor can do, try this link. The end result of the tut can be seen here... http://www.deeptextures.demon.co.uk/oracianfmr.htm Otherwise, I think your images are coming along nicely. Some of the earlier posts lack a bit of depth, but you've overcome that nicely in you latest images. Keep up the good work.Thread: How do I make smooth boulders? | Forum: Bryce
Move the slider up, then click on the smooth sphere and it should give you a two pas smoothing indicator. Then press "check".
Thread: Lightning | Forum: Bryce
I'd like to thank everyone again. I managed to find a good Photoshop tut that I can use an object mask on the lightning to get very nice results. Aldaron's method did work, but I believe this new method will work better. Only means I have to render twice. http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/smiley/1350/lightningtut.html Thanks again, and I'll post a WIP soon.

to Aldaron: Thank you very much. I'll give this a try. I see by your posted pic that it will take a good bit of patience to get the spheres placed right.
Thread: what do you guys do with your stuff | Forum: Bryce
I've just received my first payment as a graphic artist. I'm illustrating supplements for a tabletop wargames company. Bryce might not be the most powerfull or fastest peice of software around, but the results are surprisingly good and it is now paying for me to explore further options.
Thread: Anyone know where I can get a used Bryce 4??? | Forum: Bryce
When bidding on eBay, make sure to take note of the location of the seller. Try not to buy anything from Moscow as most of those programs appear to be bootleg. I've read complaints in the feedback about "Corel" not honoring the CD key for upgrade because the software is illegal. Read the seller's feedback. You'll be able to pick up on a pattern if one exists. The Bryce lots available right appear fine for bid though. Caveat Emptor!

Unfortuantely, as the green light material is "fuzzy" the object disappears. The objects are so thin that the fuzzyness overlaps and removes the object from view. Thanks though.
Thread: Bryce Forum's May Challenge Voting!!! - "The Duel" - Vote Here!!! | Forum: Bryce
Although Humorix' and vasquez'pictures are stunning in their modelling ability, I have to cast my vote for Rochr as it was the most photorealistic of the competition.
Thread: animating lava and steam? how? what programs add-in etc | Forum: Bryce
For lava, try using the volumetric fire material and make it standard, not volumetric. Applying this to a "Cauliflower Hills" terrain should work pretty well. For steam, apply volumetric cloud materials to random size and dispersion spheres. Watch the overlaps, as they will interact with one another. Most of what you are wanting to do can be done in bryce, but it will take a little work to get to look right. The effort is always worth it though. Whether or not the picture turns out the way you want it to, you will learn something that will make the next picture that much better.

I wasn't following the wich list or this thread closely, but it appears that something missed in the wishlist was "Glow". I'd like to have materials that emit light of their own, like lasers and neon signs. It's not the easiest effect to fake in Bryce now, and the last time I tried it increased render time almost ten fold. I don't mind the rendertime increase as much as the work it took to fake the glow. :)
Thread: WIP...for challenge | Forum: Bryce
Damn fine it of modelling there. The textures are very nice as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result to your image.
Thread: Bat Cave Construction where to start 3d Studio or Bryce or both | Forum: Bryce
I'm working on caves now, and I've gotten pretty good results by using inverted symetrical lattices. Create, smooth, invert and then raise the lowest level to crop out the bottom. When turned on it's side in Bryce, this gives very nice cave walls. Just kee adding lattices as far back as you can see. Stalactyes and stalagmites are best made with terrains. Remember that stalactyes are long and thin but there should be a corresponding stalagmite below it.
Thread: Any Rumors on new Bryce 6? | Forum: Bryce
Waldo (o?), Not to be as unpleasent as you, but this would appear to be a wholely innapropriate use of this forum. If you have problems with Bryce 5 then you may give said problems a voice here, but if you would like any of us to take you seriously, you should try making a reasoned arguement. I find your remarks as they currently stand to be baseless and inflamatory. I found the upgrades offerred by Corel in Bryce 5 to be lacking, but not unworthy of the price. The only comparable renderer/modeller/animator in this price range is, IIRC, Vue D'Esprit. I find the quality of their renders to be lacking and if you would like plants, you need to fork out another $100. It is nescessary, when a product is bought from another company, to rush development of the first release so that that product will not lose momentum. Take a step back, and a deep breath, and if you sill believe Bryce 5 to be unworthy of your hard earned dollar, don't buy it. Vue is offerring a side-grade deal for Bryce 4 owners. Also, the word is boycott. Something which few of us could participate in at this point, as we already own the program. Sorry to all others for even replying to the above comments.
Thread: Image for May challenge! | Forum: Bryce
If you need new glasses, I do too. :)Thanks alot. Taking another look at the image though, the blue light reflected by the right wall seems to be much farther forward in the perspective then the two ships. Is there another ship in front of the top one? Are these ships MUCH larger then they may appear to be? Or is that another light source? I guess it could also be the effect of looking through the radial light.
