BeanPole tries to be supportive and helpful - his movements are a little jerky.
BlooPea is a bit of a bumbler, accident prone with a bubbly but slightly anxious personality.

His natural colour is blue but he's paler than FrozenPea, who needs the ice cap she wears to keep her temperature cold.

Thread: September/October Bryce Challenge - DAMAGE - Official Thread | Forum: Bryce
So long as it didn't wash you and the comfy chair away?
The weather here (Essex) has been pretty good the last 3 days - pretty much back to normal for this time of year. A few gentle rays of sun, not so much wind and only a few spots of rain on one day... wow! Cos I was beginning to think it would never end!
We have many trees down now that we can do nothing about cos one is leaning against a BT telephone pole - and MUST be dealt with, gonna cost a bomb!
Simply can't do the others at all.
Have the results of this challenge been posted? I can't seem to find it. The words: 'Challenge Page' are not an active link.

Oh yeah I remember the train – The Bryster was posting bits of it up to (it seems to me) only a short time ago.
I wonder what happened to pakled? I haven't seen him around in quite a while.
I too haven't posted much here, it just seems like there isn't anyone much here any more.
I was once a Bryce mod over on Dreamslayer but only 3 or 4 other mods ever came by – no one else at all.
Chohole told me about the Bryce community over on Daz – so I went there I'm afraid. It seems to be the only place where there are actual current bryce posters, at least who post with any regularity.
It actually makes me very sad to see so few people here on Rendo's Bryce forum.
Very pleased to hear that the Bryce Delphi forums have people there frequently. I find that layout over there hard to cope with – and very difficult to see what's happening now and what's old stuff – I've just not used to it I guess. (you see, I thought it was all old.)
I'm rendering a Bryce image right now, I've been doing quite a lot in there recently with a set of characters I'm creating (with hopes for an animation – if I ever figure out rigging!) I now have... 6 characters modelled, with another 6 to do.
I've been posting images of them over on Daz3d's 'Show Us Your Bryce Renders' thread.
I also need to do more scenery for this, as so far I only have 2 rooms, The Hall of Eyes and the main Palace Hall which are connected together. I need to do some outside scenery too, this I suspect will be more difficult to do as I am using a limited palette for scenes, - um so far it's only got 2 colours – black and white, with the very occassional blip of a coloured item here and there, like the stained glass in doors and the stained glass lanterns.
The characters are fully coloured though.
I guess I'd better post something in my Gallery here, it's been a while since I did that.
(sorry, Rendo won't let me get rid of the bold formatting... grrr!)
in the meantime here's something current:

I once did a render with a ship moving into a miasma of roiling red clouds, but can't reproduce it.
I only have a thumbnail of the original image, and my terrible attempts to duplicate it.
This is the thumbnail:

Quote - @Fran: even though I haven't used Bryce I check in on what David and Horo are up to from time to time. Their YouTube channel is great. I watch this stuff just for fun - yep I'm a render geek like that. What's your obsucre lighting method? Looks like you're using high ambience and some sort of global illumination - true ambience in Bryce? I'm a big fan of experimentation in all the software I use. @ArtByMivan: thanks for the link. I hadn't seen pinhead's tutorials.
Obscure Lighting?
Oh it's not my method, it's one of David's tuts. It gives nice results I think, depending on the HDR you use, but I can't get the same results as he got (but then he is using an hdr image from a package you have to buy, and I can't afford that at the moment) I did try creating an hdr from an image of the same place (I think so: 'treppenhalle' does mean 'Hall of Stairs' doesn't it?) which at a lower res Horo gives away free, but I just can't get the same effect at all. My render looks completely different to David's... and of course mine took 22 hours plus to finish rendering, so... well I can't justify tying up the PC, or even just Bryce, for so long.
So I usually just do your bog standard renders. Sometimes I use a half light dome I made; this can make a product look better. Great for promo images either for freestuff or now I'm doing it for stuff I want to sell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's the link to the particular tut I watched and followed for that render:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpOPYXpAIzA
However David has quite a few tutorials on this subject, and not just Obscure Light, there's also Obscure Glows, Obscure Gel's and SS and... loads more. I did a search under just 'Obscure' and tons of stuff came up on David's channel.
However, I see he's just uploaded 3 new tuts on Wings3d.. Hooray! More weird cubes! Gotta go!
Yeah, I hardly touch Poser either although I got version 5 when that was free.
When you do try Bryce, and want to move on to even more interesting stuff after David and Horo's DVD - they've posted a lot more stuff around, David is currently adding videos to his YouTube - either on how to make fascinating twisted cube thingie objects in Wings3d or on lighting those in Bryce with really indepth lighting procedures - I'm following a few of those right now - the latest render is taking forever!!
I'm using an 'Obscure Lighting' method. It's weird! But I must admit it is making my "Twisted Mobius Cube Thingie" look really good.
Here's the normal render, I'll post the 'Obscure Light' one if it ever finishes rendering.
Quote - Fran.. Read this. It tells you everything you need to know. Was a much shorter guidelline when I started selling here..LOL..
Yes, thanks Ravyn, that's one of the links I've printed out - makes it much easier to read, but it's difficult trying to figure out which bits - if any - apply to me and what I want to sell.
Quote - If you run into problems with pricing the Marketplace admin will help you with it. And if there's a problem with promos, they'll let you know.. So don't stress about it. Either program will probably work for promos.. I use Bryce because I don't have the other one..
I can't help if you're doing Poser runtimes because I can never get them to work..
I have too old a version of Poser to be relevant I think, and besides I've hardly ever used it.
Runtimes? Runtimes!!? Arrrggggghhhhh. (lol)
Quote - But I can help you package up your obj or obp models if you need me .. Just don't think about it & jump in with both feet!! It's much easier then you think..
Are you sure?
Lol @ Bryster.
One more point, have you realised that the point at which the tachyon stream is disturbed, this disturbance causes an acceleration in the localised fly population, which then begins to increase.
In other words: swat 'em and more arrive.
Rosie,
I am waiting until they bring out a Human compatible version of Daz Studio - they haven't managed it yet. It ain't compatible with ME!
Unfortunately I have now discovered that I have neither the latest version of Bryce7Pro nor the latest version of DazStudio. I usually don't have the latest DS but they've actually updated Bryce??? Wow! Why didn't anyone tell me?
And it's been so long that I can't remember HOW to update Bryce unless it's just a reset in my DS account... (off to see)
I've got a specific question:
How can you ensure (or even know) that your promo images are of 'good quality'?
Yes, I kind of thought the mentor answer might be 'no'. So there's no forum for wannabe sellers either?
I'm just so uncertain about this, it's just all rather.... fierce.
I really do want to sell things, and I am reading all the guff - guidelines, policies, rules, articles... everything - that's gonna take a long time, and I don't fully understand it all, I just feel that - if I make one wrong step a ton of bricks will fall on me from on high.
Thread: 15 minute mini-challenge to all Brycers | Forum: Bryce
Okay, a completely different scene, wham bam, thrust everything in, press render and.... pray.
started at 4.04, finished at 4.15.42 with a 00:36 rendertime, so that's 10 mins 42 secs. Phew!
I tried this 4 times before I got it down enough - I would keep playing with another tower, and another and another... half an hour later I remembered it was supposed to be just 15 mins. so I stopped and started afresh... 3 more times, I kept forgetting what I was doing and where things were.
