EnglishBob,
I know Colourcurvature created a really good program for solving reverse deformation of joints, I helped beta test if for him. His program is great for making joint corrections.
It was on sale for a while but I have not seen it lately, which is a great loss. There were some small issues with normals being sometimes distorted at the joint boundaries but he had created a fix which always worked for me. From dealing with him in the beta he is a perfectionist ( I mean that as a compliment ) and I think he was troubled that the program didn't get everything perfect every time.
Vilters,
You don't need UV's in a morph target for Poser, so losing them is generally not a problem. All that Poser needs in an .obj to import a morph target is the vertex position statements. You can remove the vt and vn entries from an .obj and it is still good as a morph target. ( In fact I believe this is the preferred method of distribution as it avoids breaking copyright on the source mesh ). If you are wanting to observe how your morph affects a texture on your object whilst you are making it, then I would absolutely agree that you need to retain UV's for that to work.

Thread: Importing OBJ for morph targets causes the geometry to offset to 0,0,0 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you are exporting bodyparts to create morphs from then any offsets and bends of the exported figure will be baked into the morph you create, which is generally not what you want.
Ideally you should work from a copy of the .obj file in the geometries folder, rather than exporting a figure from the scene, that is the safest way of avoiding this kind of problem.
If you really must export from the scene then there is an export option 'export as a morph target' which will remove translations, but joint bends and any active morphs/ magnet effects will still be included, so it can still be difficult.
If you want to try rescuing the morphs you have made, load them into Poser and then translate them to the 0,0,0 position and then export again. If you know how much the exported figure was translated from zero then this might work, if not it will be trial and error, and probably easier to start again as described above.
Best of luck with it. either way.

Quote - And businesses count on that kind of behavior. Being kind to a business never pays off. All you are doing is reinforcing bad behavior.
Always remember - right & wrong & morality NEVER enter a business decision. That is the FIRST lesson you learn in business 101.
You have to deal with business in a cuthroat manner, because they certainly will with you.Â
Ask the Poser folks if their long-term loyalty to DAZ has paid off.
Â
Complete rubbish !
Â
A little courtesy when dealing with a business and its employees is ALWAYS a good idea.
Example: I recently had some maintenance done on my car. I took it to a garage that I have used for some years because I know as a business they do know right from wrong and won't 'invent' faults so that they can charge more to 'repair' them.
Try using your approach in restauraunt and you might well find yourself getting a little extra from the kitchens lol
As a long time Poser user and DAZ customer I am quite happy with DAZ, but less happy with Smith Micro as they have FAILED to keep up.

Skiriki,
Your plan of action looks very sensible, and I would be very interested in any results you obtain if you do get a 'suspect' exe to study, whatever the result.
Since you are approaching this in a professional way and intending to investigate first hand, I would be inclined to trust your findings. I think you should be mentally prepared though that some people will not believe your results unless they agree with their pre-concieved ideas on what the answer will be.

Quote - The Itemised Order History is sorted by product name - it looks odd because there are some items with punctuation (such as quotes) in front of the name and those are shown first. Once you go to the second page the page number is in the URL so it is possible, at least as a work-around for now, to edit that by guessing where you need to be to hit the product name (I have a huge list and didn't find it too time-consuming to get some resets, though it is annoying to have to use even a simple work-around for a limitation).
I found navigating the order history to request a reset initally confusing, but soon realised it was sorted as you described. I was very impressed that after requesting a reset the item was there in my downloads within seconds.

Jazzmin,
Real respect has to be earned. There are some users of this site that I have a lot of respect for, and other for which I have none.... That comes from years of visiting this site and reading what people post and how they conduct themselves. As for yourself I have the same respect for you as I would have for any person that I don't know since I haven't read any of your posts outside this thread.
To the issue at hand, do DAZ installers carry a virus? I think you will find if you read through this thread that it has been investigated before and the answer was no. I agree that if AV software flags up a warning, then it is sensible to check, and each person must make a decision if they believe the answer they get from the vendor, or not. Personally I make an informed decision based on the reputatation of the person providing the information, and on 25+ years experience in IT. I have had a couple of viruses on my home computer, usually they got in before my AV was updated to detect them. I think the first one was on 'Flair Paint' on an Atari ST and unusually that did come on the floppy disk from the vendor. I have never had a virus from DAZ, or from models I bought from Zygote before DAZ was split off. ( first model I bought I think was the racing car driver from Zygote. wow a long time ago lol. )

Britains comes to mind.....most excellent!!!......please tell me they are Britains!
Â
Sadly not Britains as they would be a bit overscale for my railway models, but I agree the Britains farm models are really nice. I do have a couple of Britains trees somewhere though.
Some of my sheep are from the old Airfix Farm Stock sets. When i was a lad these sets sold for two shillings each ( 10p in decimal ) down at the local newsagent. These days I have seen the same sets sell for as much as £40 on Ebay !! mine long since were pulled of their sprues and painted, and the boxes are long gone. I buy models to use them, not to keep them pristine in their original packaging. Kind of like James May, but on about 1% of his budget. lol.

Quote - Kendall, don't judge others by your own failings, matey. my friend has worked in software development for over 30 years, he was on the teams that wrote the software for military flight simulators, including the Seaking , the Merlin, and several fixed wing combat aircraft. he now works in research and development division of British Aerospace, and all i have seen of 'your'Â expertise is a little website that hasn't been updated for years.
btw, i don't need to 'learn' anything about coding or debugging software, i have friends who are experts in their fields, and earn a nice salary doing the job they love.
they are not half-arsed 1 man bands. :))

Your history of DAZ bashing on this site means that you lost all credibility a long time ago. So stick it.....

And did you apply this same 'logic' to Posers various owners , who did not have an in house  forum for years ( and even now have only a shanty town at RDNA )?
Heh. You've been around awhile. Didn't you participate in the mailing lists? That's how things were mostly done back then with forums being few and far between across the 'net. The Bryce and Poser lists were hopping and I spent more time on them than I ever have in the forums.
Whatever. I want the forums back too. What I find maddening and makes me mad at myself is that I keep coming online to see if anything's back yet. :)
It's like the rare times when my cable goes out. Can I clean the bathroom or watch a movie on tv, or finish a scene I've been workinng on? No way. I have to check if cable has come back every five minutes. LOL
Â
Â
I wasn't part of the mailing lists, but I first joined when it was the Poser Forum, run by Willow. There are still people here that were here before me I am sure. Whatever her faults Willow was a strong character and wouldn't have stood for the childish arguments and 'Grandstanding' that happen here now. She was quick with the ban stick when the need arose.  lol.

You may have a virus on your system which is infecting the executables once they have finished downloading onto your system, but it's clear you are not really interested in getting an answer.....
Thread: Fooling whom? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I'm not a PA and I don't have access to anything other than any other user has access to. I don't see any evidence whatsoever for people withholding information at DAZ. I agree that there needs to be a manual. I had not really used DS until version DS4 appeared, having previously been a Poser only user.
Recently I have been experimenting with geo-grafting with a view to making an earless head modification, and it is working well. I have learned how to do this by reading the relevant threads in the forum and trying things out for myself. I have found regular users, PAs and staff all only too pleased to explain things.
Thread: Fooling whom? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I agree. I don't see anything wrong with providing preset scenes, in fact I think it's a great idea. New users see promotional renders for DS or Poser and then open the application and see a figure standing in empty space and wonder "how do i get from this to those really cool pictures?". preset scenes are a way that new users can see their own computer generate decent quality renders, and by looking around the preset scene they can see how things are set up, and try altering things like poses and camera angles. That way they gradually learn, rather than being thrown in at the deep end.

I have tried Faceshop but it is very difficult to get a realistic result from it. Facegen works really well and there is an exporter for Genesis which works with the free version of the main Facegen application, including the Photofit.
The face shop in Poser is a stripped down version of Facegen.
