Thanks Grim ;-) The rather flimsy "I left my manuals in another county" excuse is right up there with the classic "the dog ate my homework".
Thread: Manuals and books | Forum: Photoshop
Perhaps you are not one however, most who use sly phrases like "I just recently managed to get my hands on a copy of Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7" and yet don't have access to manuals are theives. Why not simply say I just bought Photoshop and Illustrator? "Managed to get my hands on"? Say what you will, it still sounds suspect.

"Every healthy shuttle on reentry is ablaze in an flaming ionized air" Even if it was true, the flames would not be coming out of the windows as they appear to be in your image. Somehow though I knew you'd have some excuse. Anyone moronic enough to post the image you did of course would. I suggest you take a look at some of the other images in the "memorial" gallery. You'll see that no one else was callus and stupid enough to depict a shuttle on fire.

While your intentions were no doubt good the results are somewhat tastless. I'm not exactly sure that an image of a the shuttle engulfed in flames is a fitting "tribute". What you did is more a sensationalization of the accident than a tribute to the crew and mission. Your image should have contained a photo of the INTACT shuttle. Think of it this way: Would the families of any of the seven crew members want to display your image in their homes? Doubtfull as it is a reminder of the disaster. A tribute should contain a reminder of better times.

Manuals, some time and a little effort really are all you need. Other "how to" books may expidite the process a bit but they are not necessary. Much like Cliff Notes, Photoshop for Dummies exits not becase the manuals are not good, but because people are lazy.

Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10 both come with comprehensive, well written manuals. Start with those.
Thread: Why do all the document icons become Quicktimes? | Forum: Photoshop
Are you using Mac or Win? If you are on a Mac try rebuilding the desktop. Restart while holding down command and option until you see the message asking if you want to rebuild the desktop. Tell it yes. This usually helps when icons start taking on an appearance that they are not supposed to. If you are on Win, I have no idea. A Win user will have to help. Either way, the files you saved are most likely not Quicktime. If you save as a psd than is is a psd, it does not spontainiously become QT but someimes icons do get screwed up.

Well, that being the case, it's still way too busy. The background is too pronunced and the letters are jaggy. The drop shadow (especially in the word "properties") and the color gradient and that shingle roof pattern have to go. A logo has to be able to be reproduced in 2 colors. So far, this one can not.

Just a friendly warning before you go to far.... I read about this "contest" on another board and I'm quite sure that the guy who asked for this is a phony and that there is no prize. He's just trying to get you to do work for him for free. If I were you I'd give him nothing. On the other board the guy wrote this: FIRST POST "Hey I went out to find some graphic websites. I have a contest going the winner will get a $100 gift certificate to one of 5 stores. (Electroincs, Audio, Auto, Computer Supplys etc.) Here is what I need: I need a graphic for my company: FMC Properties LLC. This is a real estate company. I need a new logo for professional letterhead etc. Can be color or black and white. In designing keep in mind its for a realestate company and for professional and business use. Please make sure content and images are appropriate. Please email graphics to: mattm@canadiancaraudio.com Also once I choose the logo I will contiune to hire that person from then on to design my logos and possibly a website." SECOND POST "Please dont count this as spam....I just need some help from people that know what there doing, like you guys Hey I went out to find some graphic websites. I need some help. Here is what I need: I need a graphic for my company: FMC Properties LLC. This is a real estate company. I need a new logo for professional letterhead etc. Can be color or black and white. In designing keep in mind its for a realestate company and for professional and business use. Please make sure content and images are appropriate. Please email graphics to: mattm@canadiancaraudio.com THANKS SO MUCH! There might be a prize involved too" In two postings he changed it from a definite prize to, maybe a prize. And in another posting in a different section of the board the guy claimed that it was for his dads company. After people caught on to him he started to delete all his messages to cover his tracks. Either way when somone asks you for a logo to be used on a professional letterhead the only "prize" you should except from them is CASH.
Thread: Shortcut for playing and continueing an action | Forum: Photoshop
Sure you can assign a keyboard shortcut for an action but that's not what you asked. You asked what the keyboard short cut was for presing the play button on the actions palette and there isn't one. There's a difference between a command having a shorcut pre-assigned to it and being able to assign your own (which could end up be any key you want). Again, duh!
Thread: Shortcut for playing and continueing an action | Forum: Photoshop
"Quick reference card: No it does not tell me that there is a keyboard shortcut for playing an action." Duh! That's because there isn't one.
Thread: Shortcut for playing and continueing an action | Forum: Photoshop
For the actions answer why not just consult the Quick Reference card that came with Photoshop? It has a list of all keyboard shorcuts for all the tools and all the palettes. Concerning a shortcut for rotate canvas. When you pull it down from the menu to choose it, does it list next to it what the key combination is for a shortcut? No? What does that tell you?

Back when you were " wandering what all i can do with this program" why not just ask the "teacher" who "just handed" you the disk with no manuals?
