The elbows, the armpits... dead giveaways. But thanks! The texture comes from... uhm, y'know, I have no real idea. It's called Alison, and it's been in my RunTime for about two years now.

It's a propietary format used in a Japanese modelling software. I've tried to find a translator for it for about a year and a half, with no success. Apparently, a m3d is like a Bryce file: can't be exported and can't be read by anything except bryce. Real shame because those are gorgeous props.

Artist, when you buy anything like this, you're not really buying a product. You're buying a licence to use the product, and it's the licence that varies from outlet to outlet. For example, DAZ, at one point, would not let you use Vicky for making clip art. It was in the agreement, so you had to abide by it. The current Rsity licence says that you acquire the copyright to make derivative work, which sorta implies the derivative can be sold (well, actually, it states it pretty baldly, but anyway...). On the basis of the hysteria today, I imagine Rsity will be revisiting that real soon. So to answer your question, yes, you can use your purchase anyway you want as long as you don't violate the terms of the purchase licence. You can take th mesh and turn it inside out if you want, as long as you don't resell or distribute it.

the merchant in this scenario is either incredibly stupid - as the likelihood of finding a texture of that calibre on the internet as freely resellable is about the same as that of winning the lottery<?i> Especially when the source, if the Google search has landed the right one (and how many folks would have that name, after all), has no discernable Poser imagery on his/her web page, nor any images that would demonstrate this kind of skill. Not saying that BMO walked into anything, but this isn't exactly rocket science at this point, is it?

did the cookie-cutter remark give him away? ;-D Sheesh, it takes people a long time to pick up the hint. :) Betting five pounds? That's all I'm worth? Why, you dufflebag!

Now, it looks bad for the community as a whole... we have to question every freebie, every item we look at in the marketplace As well we should, y'know? Let's face it: there are so many cookie-cutter textures for Vicky out there that it wouldn't surprise me to find out that most of them are "appropriated" from someone else.

why did she take so long to reply with this<?i> Considering this thread started 12 hours ago (more or less) and not everyone hangs around here 24/7, I think we can allow her some time to check this out and put together her presentation. Give it a rest, okay?

Uh, folks -- :: pointing back to #44 ::... I checked the license that comes with every R product, and Orion's right. It's in there. So if ByteMeOkay bought the texture and manipulated it so that the original can't be extracted, then nothing can be done. It's part of the agreed upon licence. And this raises a wholw bunch of questions, don't it.
Thread: Renderosity Customer Service: Always Striving for the Best! | Forum: Community Center
Sorry, Tim, but this "policy" sucks. A gift certificate is all well and good, but the customer should automatically be refunded his/her money, with the certificate as an option that he chooses, not is chosen for him. One of the mods in the Copyright forum said that this was prefered because of all the various ways people have of paying. Hate to say it, but tough. A credit card refund isn't that difficult to execute, neither is Paypal. But regardless of how inconvenient it might be for Renderosity, a refund should be the first option, not a certificate.
Thread: Do you think that an image created with vue d'esprit and poser is art? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Some people used to say that "rap" music was not music. Now it's winning Grammy's and selling more CD's than just about any other genre. So there's a good comparison I would say Yeah, that the Garmmys no longer recognize what music is. :)
