Subject: Importing lwo format?

I keep reading that Poser can import .lwo's, but on mine (I'm on a Mac), .lwo isn't listed. Is this a PC thing? If so, is there a good file coversion tool someone can recommend? I tried Imagery3D, but it keeps freezing up on me.

As far as I know, the lwo import module is a feature that belongs to Poser Pro pack. Regular Poser 4 doesn't have it, not on PC either.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Yeah but Poser 5 for Mac isn't quite out yet, is it?

nope, but CL's going to have a 'sneek peek' of it at Siggraph

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Deep Exploration can import LWO and export to many formats including obj.

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 12.0GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7770

PoserPro 2012 (SR1) - Units: Metres , Corel PSP X4 and PSE 9

There is a free utillity called "Crossroads" that does LWO to OBJ, but I don't know if there is a Mac version, mine is the PC version. Perhaps you know someone with a PC who could do the conversions part for you?

Dizzie ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2003 at 10:51 PM

I have P5 on a PC and I get an error message when I try to import a LWO file even though it's listed on the import list....

Dizzie ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2003 at 10:55 PM

where can I find Crossroads? I've done a search in Free Stuff to no avail...

Tashar59 ( ) posted Wed, 30 July 2003 at 12:18 AM

Anim8tor imports lwo very well. Then just export out as obj. I don't know if Anim8tor can be used on Mac. I don't have a link for it but you can find it at the Modeling forum, look to the right of your screen. Anim8tor is FREE. I use a lot of different modeling programs for conversion.

Dizzie: I tried opening the LWO model T from an earlier thread in Vue and got an error message about non-polygonal data and only the engine block, steering wheel and lights appeared. Presumably the rest was nurby or something. Maybe the P5 importer is similarly limited.

I know on a PC metasequoia version 2.1 freeware will import the model T lwo but exports it as a dfx.
