I agree with both of you. Also to consider is the synergy of ideas in which new images help explode the creativity amongst the various artists. ie. you see one of those 'jaw-droppers' and suddenly, you see new ways to explore those endless possibilities called fractals.

If you think that blows your mind, wait until you start exploring 3 dimensional space fractals known as quaternions. The output of programs, like the one that you used, are only 2 dimensional. Yes, I know that they can be layered, but they still are derived from 2D mathematics. If you use the same formula with the same coordinates, but add a third dimension, the image can get really wierd (or plain). Think about this: If imaginary numbers come from the square root of -1, what is the square root of an imaginary number? Mind boggling, isn't it? The only way to display such mathematics is to run a ray-trace rendering from a 3D point in quaternion space. I call this image, "Utter Chaos in Quaternion Space".

As already pointed out, simply ask for help here. The only stupid question is the one which you do not ask. We all have had to start from scratch somewhere in our artistic endeavors.

One last comment, do not hesitate to join several communities here on Renderosity. As you gain artistic expertise, you will find that folks in other 'communities' have valuable input which can expand your undertanding.

What is 'Fractal' art vs. say... 'Bryce' art? My 2cents worth: depends on what the "focus" is of the image is. Example: If one creates an image which the fractal supports an idea (fractal is background in a "stargate" - the focus is on the personnel about to enter the portal), then that image belongs in a different gallery like Bryce or Poser. However, if the fractal IS the 'focus' of the images (look at the monthly challenge - jewels), then those images definately belong in the Fractal gallery. Easy enough, right?

...you spend endless time trying to figure out how you are going to pay for that 'render farm' out of your measly paycheck.

...You say "Is it done yet?" and you are not referring to food. ....dang, some of those global illuminations take soooo long to render..

... you learn other modelling programs just to feed your Bryce scenes because a boolean, meta-ball, terrain, etc. just won't do! (Think Wings 3D, Poser, etc.)

What level are you rendering at? Default, Regular, Super, Premium? If you are using Super or Premium, Try reducing the default number of rays per pixel by one level or more. (ie. 64 down to 36 or 16)
