Joker, have you seen this:

It might be what you need to get L'Homme to pose how you want him...

Most recently doing lots of test renders with SuperFly settings to define my own render presets that are tuned for render speed with the types of images I compose. One preset reduced render times from 14 hours (default preset) to 30 minutes (my preset).

I see very kind people here. Is this the suppot I get here? Nobody give me answers expept bye we dont care? I still support Poser, as you see I gave you the description how to convert G2 figures to poser. It was a question here. I give the answer to you. I also have questeions and the answer from you is bye we dont care... very sad
I was pretty flippant, I admit. But for years we've had people moaning to the owners of Poser about Daz to Poser when it is nothing to do with the owners of Poser. It's the responsibility of Daz. If they want to make a converter for their figures then great. You need to ask them.
Who makes the Daz to Blender facility? Is it a Daz export option controlled by Daz or a Blender import plugin created by Blender? I suspect the latter as they have the most to gain and the bigger pockets. Either way, it's not something I personally feel Bondware should be spending time and effort on as it could be a forever moving target. I myself think the effort would be better-spent bug-fixing and enhancing Poser itself.
Thanks for that workflow run through for those that benefit from it though btw.

Bye.
Btw, many of us don't care about Gn figures and will continue to support Poser as we consider it superior.

ghosthip2 is right, uncompressed image formats are better for rendering. They don't take more memory because even compressed images are uncompressed for use. The only benefit to compression is file-size on a hard-drive (and size to download if relevant). So use uncompressed where possible, especially for close-ups.

I've started using 8k maps for hair, not simple resizing though. So far I've just taken 4k maps into photoshop and quadrupled them so the details/hairs are finer. No issues with RAM so far, even my 6-year-old iMac has 32GB RAM.
What's your process for moving 4k to 8k? My other half is a graphic designer and she finds: http://waifu2x.udp.jp useful so I thought I'd try it, but it didn't seem to make any difference for me.
That eyebrow looks good btw... is that standard miki? texture or geometry or both...?
Maybe we should start a 4k versus 8k comparison thread?

Okay, after typing the above I realised I had a way forward. I backed up and then copied my render presets folder to my external drive. I then created an alias/shortcut to it and put that back where the original render presets folder was. Now Poser looks at the alias goes to the external non-SSD drive for the presets and gets them in alpha-magically-betical order. Hurrah! (yes, I did have to put a number in front of them to get them numerically ordered).

Good idea Karina. Unfortunately, that didn't work either.
I tried modifying LIB_ITEMS_SERVER_SORT as per those articles and that made no difference either. I suspect the render presets don't use this flag. We likely need a RENDER_PRESETS_SERVER_SORT
I have Poser (and OSX) on an SSD but keep my runtime content on an external HDD.
The above did remind me that the library/runtimes also do not order alphabetically for me either - which also happened to be annoying me, but I noticed that I can edit the XML for the runtimes myself ( LibraryPrefs.xml ) - and have done which is a blessing.

I now suspect this is an Apple APFS or OSX SSD issue as I've been sorting out my EZDome library and the files do not order alphanumerically (or delete correctly) if accessed from an SSD but are ordered fine (and delete correctly) if accessed from an ordinary HDD. Posting this in case it helps anyone else. btw am running Mojave 10.14.6

I tried using the existing presets to create new user presets, but the user-created presets are not ordered in any sensible manner either - seemingly displayed randomly. sigh.

Thanks, but if only...
maybe you're using a PC and this is a Mac bug...
I noticed straight away that they were not ordered so assumed (correctly) that the renaming wouldn't work.
grrrr
