There is no length limit to the file extensions on OSX. Poser or any other app can use .whatever if you check the new iWork word-processor it uses .pages the preference files are .pref The 3 letter code problem is Poser trying to stick to age old DOS conventions.

Are you sure it's "Filemaker" and not some confusion with files extensions? It sounds like you need to create a temp folder place both downloaded files into there then double click installer 1.

Yes P4 files can be a problem, it would be nice if the merchant could refresh their products. How long ago did P5 come out? http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12404&Form.ShowMessage=2253039 Deals to Mr Shruggy and http://www.geocities.com/RTEJava/alpha/index.html Decodes RTE files. I'm told that very few merchants use RTE encoding. Sorry I haven't encountered pcf files, yet. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you mean by "encoded"??? Poser 5 and 6 are file compatible with windows, there is no decoding needed. As to telling the OS where to put your files we have ditto or if you would rather use a GUI then feel free to try dittoGUI, which makes installing about as painless as it can be. Cheers Kaveman

Sorry, I don't know about XP or your 64-bit system. But All Poser 5 content should work fine with Poser 6. I maybe wrong but I think all older version content such as P4 and PP will also work with P6.

dbutenof, surprisingly enough, it also makes sense check out the Mac forum. Let's see topic 2, 5, 7 and 9, right on the front page are about Poser and Tiger issues. Topic 30 of this forum is about Tiger and Poser. There are also other threads on other sites with long discussions concerning Poser and Tiger. They all result in the same conclusion. We have been told that it can't be fixed by us and that we need to wait for the SR.

Hi stevehunt, It think the problems are with all Poser versions. It's mainly with the dialogue windows. Word is that SR1 is due soooon, so I would recommend holding fire just a little longer before you upgrade. Did you know that Rendosity has a Mac Forum, for these types of questions? Cheers
Thread: Curious thing about Poser 6 firefly render, make faster the render.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I thought pressing ESC in the Render Dialogue was the same a pressing the Cancel button and that it cancels the whole render.
Thread: Does Poser 6 have Network Render Functions? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, sorry. You could break up your animations and run a set of renders on different computers then join it all together. That would require a Poser Licence for each computer and the required Runtimes available either locally or across the network.

nomuse, is correct the Mac will use the pngs. We are fully file compatible with P5 and 6. It's only the old content with .rsr that we now have problems with. I just go with Mr Shruggy. It's almost a red flag, this product hasn't been maintained and is very old. Not that old is bad, just that it hasn't been checked and updated for the new versions of Poser.

Thread: POSER 5 DOES NOT LIKE TIGER | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm sorry, but you don't seem to understand the Mac OSX numbering system. This release is not a dot upgrade at all. This is a completely NEW version, the same sort of step as between Windows 3.1 to 95, (although nothing like either.) To give you the example of OSX 3 code named Panther, has had 9 dot updates and several minor updates, These are number 3.1, 3.2, 3.3.1 to the current 3.9.1. OSX 4 code named Tiger, leaves this old code path and begins again with OSX 4.0. Do some research before making silly comments like this. Which version of Photoshop is broken, are you talking about Photoshop CS2 for OSX Tiger? No? As I have pointed out there have been major changes to OSX GPU drivers, to gain these advantages older software needs to be updated. Can't you understand this? I'm not suggesting that anyone rushes out and purchases this new Operating System until the Applications they depend on have also been updated by their developers to the correct versions. To do anything less would be very silly.
