Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 5:13 am)
In the hair room, you can highlight the hair growth area (red) like you would to grow hair on the head... BUT instead of growing hair on it, choose "create prop" from the group editor..the red selection will become your new prop.. THEN move the new prop up a tad (y axis), delete roue figure so the new "skullcap' is all thats left, save it in the props folder.. I dunno if this is the right way, but it seems to work
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

Link is to Softriver's terrific P5 hair tutorial. It includes a free low-res skullcap. It's designed to fit V3, I think, but can be easily fit to other characters with a little scaling. (It should be sized to fit just inside the head, so the hair looks like it's growing out of the skull naturally.)Using a low-res skullcap is often better for dynamic hair than using a high-res one (such as PhilC's). Calculating dynamics will be faster and easier, and the hair will look just as good.
Thanks heaps, you guys have saved my bacon, again. I have to take my cap off to you all. It was that little step on Pge 6, I missed. I think I was too busy laughing, poor NaySay, the looks on his face. Your Tuts are very good geep. And yes that's a great tutorial by Softriver, that got me thinking, I could try this. Tonight I've been using 1 of PhilC's skullcaps and they are excellent, but it doesn't quite fit HER around the ears. Also there seems to be a problem with the pre-made groups, that you can see in the group editor, but are not showing in the Hair Growth Groups, Current groups menu, but I know so little about this it could be me or a P5 > P6 problem. Thanks again, I'm off to bed before this turns into another, Poser all-nighter.
BUT instead of growing hair on it, choose "create prop" from the group editor..the red selection will become your new prop.. The only problem with this method is that you cannot distribute the hair because it incorporates geometry from the original character. If you want to distribute the hair (free stuff or marketplace) you have to create your own original skullcap.

Hi all, Background: I have read some good hair tuts and have successfully created hair groups and grown hair and styled it. But I have done all this directly on the characters head. (HER) I read in the tut that I should use a skullcap and then I can save it to the Hair library? I would like to have the hair as a separate object to share, so I would like to make it all from scratch. I also noted that CL recommends putting hair on a skullcap because it's now a follicle group??? Questions, pointers or Links: How do I make a skullcap in P6? Can this method also be used for underarms and other areas? Is there any Gotyas with using the hair library and sharing these files? Hopefully this will also work for my other hairless ladies. Thanks
