I think we know another company that would come across as much more helpful if they made older versions of their software available for download.
I think I read, in a post, that "other company" has "relaxed" a little bit and will "turn a blind eye" and no longer prosecute private parties who wish to help a fellow user by sharing an older installer. Official tech support will only be provided for the latest public builds & official releases.
A sign of the times really. with all of the serious competition out there ( Reallusion & Epic MH), they DESPERATELY need to keep the content buyers/hoarders on board even if they are running older versions.

It didn't. Why would it?
Not sure what happened in your case, however it is the normal behaviour of Blender to detect
previous versions and offer you the option of copying
settings/third part addons to the new install without harming the previous installation.
This is very convenient for those of us who heavily customize our Blender installs and use many third party addons.
of course the ability to have multiple version of Blender installed is a huge advantage because if some crititcal addon stops getting supported at certain version , you can not only maintain the older version to use the add-on but can always get installers of any previous version from the Blender website, when you migrate to new PC

It should have detected 2.8 and asked if you wanted to transfer your 2.8 settings upon the first launch.

There are so many Daz Genesis figure & content import options for the newer version of Blender .
I understand if one s hardware is just too old but those who stay with older Blender version when they can actually run to newer builds are really missing out IMHO on the far superior native tools(rendering, modeling) as well as the many free Add-ons for using Daz content inside blender.

indeed for smoke , steam& fire mantaflow simulator is very powerful and the VDB importer works great.
However for large-scale simulations with automatic generation of foam and white water, flip fluids is far superior for cinematic quality simulations.

Thanks guys?
My rendering pipeline is EEVEE based (for animation) Except for volumetric fire & smoke which always looks better in Cycles, even with denoising.

Hi Lobo,
For export ,as FBX to the major 3DCC's and game engines, you need the stand alone Character creator3 pipeline version. This is the version that can import and convert Daz genesis figures, clothing, hairs into native CC3 Avatars& content .
The basic version of CC3 that is bundled with iclone 7x can only morph native CC3 Avatars and send them over to iclone.
The free CC3 pipeline Addon for blender needs an FBX exported from CC3 pipeline to replicate the PBR skinshader interface in Blender.
It is a huge workflow time saver for us animators who only use iclone as an animated figure resource for Blender.?
