Ok, apparently it's the IK being turned on that messes the dials up. When I turn it off (for say the legs) the dials obey the limits. When I turn the limits off, I get the same results as Bloodsong with dials still being affected.
Thread: OBJ import has joint problems!? | Forum: Poser Technical
That drove me insane with converting Hier files. it would grind away, say everything was hunky dory, and then nothing! I finally got a clue and found the figure in the Library. Just thick I guess. :)

No, it's definitely going past the limits, the body part keeps rotating or twisting or whatever the dial is for until it's a crumpled knot. I'll try turning the limits off and see if the same thing happens. Maybe it's time for the magic of reinstall. :(

Thread: Poser OBJ Import Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Freakachu posted some Poser "rulers" you can use to help set proportions(the following should be all one line): http://www.renderosity.com/funstuff.ez?Form.SortOrder=UserName&Start=13&Sectionid=6 What I do uncheck all the centering and size percentage things whjen importing OBJ into Poser, so it will just bring it in as is, and size things appropriately in Lightwave beforehand. If you try and use the percentage, it gets tricky to size right. Poser uses a strange tiny size, like 1/20th, so it's best to say, import a poser .obj directly from the Poser gemotries folder, and size according to that (or use Freakachu's rulers) and then not let Poser resize it when importing.

It's tricky alright. There are basically three solutions, 1 is very good but expensive, one is free but take hard work and practice (and lots of ram), one is free (or at least cheap), takes hard work and practice, drives poor Lemurs insane, but does have some good points, but not so many. The good one is to buy Deep Paint 3D (and maybe Texture weapons as well) Deep Paint allows you to paint on the object itself, in a Photoshoppy kind of interface, Texture weapons allows you to actually create UV maps for objects that have none, and has other fancy mapping tricks. Very nice, but Ka-ching, that'll be $800, $1200 with Texture weapons. The first free one is to load both your paint program and poser, save the pic as you work, and Poser will update it, and you can match up the seams visually on the Poser figure. Tedious, but it works. The second free one is to use Painter 3D, which came with Poser 4, or can be found quite cheap at autions and such. Basically, you import your object, create a new texture map (if it's for poser, you'll need to flip it upside down) and then select the show mesh option. Now paint on the bitmap, and your strokes will show up on the 3D object, so you can visually match up seams. You can try and paint on the 3D Object itself, but if you do, Painter 3D will "connect" the texure maps across the seam, drawing a feelthy, nasty streak across your heartwrenchingly beautiful (did I mention you hadn't saved it yet?) texture. Hello? Earth to alien Painter 3D programmers? What WERE you thinking? Sigh. Basically, you solve the problem with brute force or money. I'd vote for money, if I had any. Regards- Lemurtek

Darn it, Rendermonstery ate my reply again! So I'll just say it again, I too think this is really cool. Good job, Bloodsong!
Thread: WIP - Krysta's Friend Jericho | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think I have it figured out so Jericho can whip out his thing when he needs to :), I copied the alternate hipnogen thing into the Jericho drawer, than edited the corresponding section of the Jericho.CR2 to point to it. It's gonna be a pain to match up the texture though, what I did was load the alternate hip into UVMapper, save the UVMap, then load that as a new layer in Photoshop, so I can work on it without disturbing the main texture. I'll see how it works. Poor Krysta though, she got nothin but smooth polys down there. :( Regards- Lemurtek

He'll have genitals, just like the Poser 4 dork. I'm still trying to figure out all this joint business, hopefully I'll eventually get it right. As for the dials, I don't know what the deal on that is, I've had problems with them ever since I started. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: figure question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's the process I used for Krysta. I loaded the original p4 nude woman object in the geometries (if you export an object from within Poser, it won't be positioned right) into compose (free stuff). Delete the part(s) you don't want, the head or whatever, then resave the object under a new name. Now load the new object into whatever Modeler. In Lightwave modeler, I didn't bother rescaling the model, but if you need to do this, you can do it with Objaction scaler. Once you have the main body, minus the head, load the new head and position and scale it to match the body (don't move the body). Then save the new head under a new name. Load the headless body back into compose, then load the head obj into compose, make sure the merge with current object is checked. Then make sure the group of the part is named exactly like the part it is replacing, it might load in as default_group, depending on the object you stated with, and whether your modeler changed it. Now save the complete object uder a new name. Now, load the CR2 file of the body you used into a text editor, or into Cr2Editor (free stuff) Change every occurance of the old object filename into the new one you saved. Save the Cr2 as a new name in your Libraries/character/whatever folder. Now you should be able to load in the new character (it will show up in the Libraries window under figures.) You'll need to adjust the Joint Parameters to make it pose right. There may be an easier way, but that's the way I got things to work. Regards- Lemurtek

Thanks all, actually, a male wouldn't be that hard, now that I've been through the grinder once. I might think about that. Regards- Lemurtek
