Thread: Bryce 6 suggestion-list. Please everyone, tell your wishes for Bryce 6 here! | Forum: Bryce
Hey, this is my most succesful message up until now! (At least in terms of response) There are some great suggestions posted already. And as Humorix I also have never tried the flip-tool. And since I often hear that people who have been using bryce for years don't know abiut the existance of some handy tools like that flip-tool that brings me to another improvement: Make a more intuitive interface and make sure that people can find all the tools and don't have to discover them by accident. If you know what I mean. I'll have a look at how to get these improvement-suggestions to the right people at Corel. Keep those suggestions comming! I'll copy all the suggestions posted before the end of this week (Before Sunday, May 5, 2002) And send tham to Corel as fast as possible.

Here's my wishlist for now: 1. The skylab is great so wy not make it the best on the market. Let's include the ability for multiple suns, planets, moons stellar nebula's and so on. It would be nice if you could import your own planet-, sun-, nebula-maps. More advanced things such as celestial objects interacting with each other. Like a black hole sucking stallar gas out of nearby stars/suns. The same thing can be used for systems with multiple suns. More advanced cloudmovement would be nice too. And how about more than two cloudlayers. Importing your own textures for stars and starmaps would be nice too. 2. The treelab should be modified so that you can import all kinds of props like flowers, fruits, different leafes, and of course some nice extra controls for these objects. Wind should be nice too, in order to animate the leafes. A separate mode for smaller plants, not only for trees. 3. The metaballs are nice but how about setting a meta-switch to all the objects so you cannot only let balls melt together, but cones, cilinders, latices and so forth too. 4. The multireplicator is great for create some special effects, but it's not always good enough. Let's introduce a particle system. 5. Animating is nice, but what Bryce doesn't have is a collission-detection and physics system. That would be very handy. 6. Fluid-dynamics would be nice too, the water can look to unreal when animating it. 7. Making IK-lab would be nice to make character-animation a bit more easy. 8. More advanced moddeling tools are a must. How about Nurbs, Subdivision-surfaces or a modelling-system like Amapi has with drawing lines to sketch out a model. 9. Image based modelling. 10. Multiple render-modes. It would be nice to make some other non-raytracing modes too. If you could set these per texture you can really improve rendertimes. 11. Multiple layers. If you can rerender just those objects that you have edited you don't have to rerender the rest of the scene. This increases the work-flow. 12. More advanced export features. It would be nice to export all your Brycian models and not just luntains and lattices. Well this is about it. What do you 'Brycers' out here think?

Thread: Any Rumors on new Bryce 6? | Forum: Bryce
Not much really. Some people say that the treelab and the poser-import functions will be improved. I've heard people say that NURBS are going to be introduced in Bryce 6 too. But these are only rumours and are not the least bit certain. It would be fun to make a list of improvements we 'Renderosity-Brycers' would like to see in Bryce 6 though. Maybe we could send a nice list of suggestions to Corel.

Thread: Network Render Power | Forum: Bryce
The message I send was a copy of another message by someone else. I mentioned who orriginally said it, but for some dark reason it doesn't seem to be in the message. If the writer of the message feels offended by me posting his text then he should put a message up here telling he is the actual writer of the text. I don't remember his name anymore.

Thread: Network Render Power | Forum: Bryce
I've been fooling around with Bryce for 6 months or more, but just today did I figure out network rendering. Wow. I was absolutely amazed. cyber-organic said the following in a message. I took a test scene that rendered in 14 minutes on a P3 1Ghz, and rendered it using 4 machines ranging from 800Mhz to 1Ghz. Render time: 3.5 minutes!! I didn't realize that it was going to be able to fully utilize 100% of each PC's processing power. I thought it might be able to increase my render times 10-20-30% The 4 machines I have access to give me a 3.6Ghz rendering engine. That's pretty sweet. It sure beats the heck out of 1Ghz!! I think this answers your question.

Thread: BRYCE 5 animation ??? | Forum: Bryce
I'm having no problems gettign bryce to use the DivX or Indeo compressions, but regardless of the settings it always looks gravely artifacted and the filesize doesn't change if I change the datarate. Maybe bryce's compressed output just sucks, just like the JPG output (I have never used it, but I have heard about people having problems with it that you wouldn't even expect from the first Beta-version of a program). I usually burn my animations in uncompressed format to a CD-R/CD-RW and go to a friend with some good video-editing software and he compresses it and it looks fine. For example I just compressed a 1.26 GB animation to 26 MB using DivX 5.0 and there was almost no visible difference. I don't know about the aspect ratio I usually render at 4:3 or 5:4

Great idea, I've got my old PC lying around and I'm not using it at the moment. Do you need a CD-drive, Floppy-drive, monitor or are these not relly nessesary to use it as a bryce render-box? (I could save some money on a 2nd monitor if I only need one at the server)

Thread: 3D cards and Rendering time | Forum: Bryce
Your final bryce render will not go faster with a new and faster video-card. But the OpenGL mode will probably speed up. Bryce doesn't use the videocard in the final render.

Hi, I finished my gold-textures set. I've made 10 gold presets and you can download them at: http://home.hccnet.nl/t.vreeken/downloads/ The textures are under the link called 'Rayraz's Free Gold Presets' or whatever gets closest to that. The file contains a bryce-mat-file and a render showing the textures on 10 spheres. I hope the textures are good enough. Have fun with them, Rayraz.(_/)

Thread: bryce on top? | Forum: Bryce
I tried it and my computer renders fine too when minimized. As for rendering multiple scenes at the same time Flak is right only the bryce on top renders at a (bryce)fast speed.

Thread: bryce on top? | Forum: Bryce
I don't have any problems like this, ar you sure your computer isn't just renderig that slow that you don't really see much changes after some time (like when rendering four different brycescenes at the same time)? But I never minimize bryce. I always leave the window open. Maybe that's the reason I haven't encountered your problem.
