Nice model. It has potential. If you make 1 or 2 maybe 3 more models you can place them in a nice space-battlescene with some asteroids, maybe a spacestation you have a chance of winning in the challenge. Scenes always work better than only one model. And if you don't win it is no big deal. You always learn of entering contests and it's fun. So enter that contest!

Hi bodo_s, If you want to create more detail to your terrains you can make the resolution higher like Clay said. If you make the resulotion really high (planetary resolution) you will be able to create increddible terrain-detail. You can see the capabillities of the fractal- and noise-fliters in this image: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=119147&Start=55&Artist=Rayraz&ByArtist=Yes. It's all geometry, except for a very small bit of noise from a bumpmap. Play with the fractals and the different sorts of noise. It's really amazing how much detail you can give to your terrains that way.(_/)

Thread: uploading bryce pictures | Forum: Bryce
Since we are talking about all kinds of formats here. Does anyone know an uncompressed(and easy on printing) format and a compressed format wich saves the colors to 'LAB-colors' mode(Or whatever they are called)? I have read LAB-colors is a colorsetting made to always get the exact right colors. You shouldn't even see any difference on different monitors. That sounds like something I could use. If anyone knows please let me know.

I've posted a reply to this at the challenge-message. If you haven't had a look at it yet you might want to do so.

Using multiple user-ID's to get some free votes is just nasty. If anyone votes for himself he/she is actually not only beeing unfair to other renderosity-members, but it's not giving these people a good view at their capabilities with the software they are using. If these actions do really happen, then I think there should be taken measures to prevent it from happening again. I don't know how to find out if people are using multiple ID's though. As for using galleries as voting qualifiers; I've got about 60 or 70 images in my gallery, and I've only been active here at renderosity since somewhere at the end of 2001. If I wanted to I could easily have created 60 to 70 '1-image galleries' in this short time. And with 60 or 70 votes anyone is sure to win a monthly challenge. And some people feel they are not able to create images they find worthy of placing in the galleries because they are new to computer-graphics. The fact that these people haven't got a gallery doesn't mean they can't make a good vote, so I think there should be another solution. Does anyone else have a good idea?

Thread: Lens Flares | Forum: Bryce
I'd say you just make your lensflare-texture additive, that way you get a nice bright lens-flare.

I'm saving some money to buy me a new video card too. The old Voodoo-banshee from my fathers comuter is really to slow. How am I going to work on my 15-million-poly scenes in open GL-mode in realtime with such a slow Voodoo. My video card is the oldest piece of hardware in my machine, because I've got a really small budget I can only upgrade parts of my computer each year. My processor is an AMD 1800+, and together with my king-size full-tower, my motherboard and my RAM it's the newest addition to my system. Having just a 15.2 GB harddisk is a drag too. Does anyone know how to make money fast? ;-)

So it's absolutely no postwork? I can live with that. As for the metaball/boolean thing I don't think using Bryce4 booleans have been unfair to Bryce5-users, all the 'metaball-people' have done a great job and the models certainly weren't of less quatility than the boolean-models. And I don't know if everyone else agrees with me, but I didn't find metaball-modelling any harder than boolean-modelling (even though it was my first serious metabell-project).

Nooooooooo!!!! You've got a faster AMD processor than me. Have fun with it! Bryce is a very slow renderer so you'll neeed the speed.

Oh, I forgot. Is rendering different part's of the scenes separately and compositing them later to much postwork? I'm thinking of making different layers for diffusion, reflection, specularity and so forth to make it look a bit less 'Brycian'?

Hey, this perfectly fits my newest image I'm working on! Including the duel-theme. Now let's hope I can find the time to finish it in time, I've got so much to do! It might be a duel against time ;-).
