Thread: New Iron Maiden cover... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hmm wi will lack a few elements that may difficult to reproduce first, let say the masks :( anyway i remember the last two album artworks (virtual eleventh and brave new world) and they were so great... as a fan of this band (yes i know i am dumb), i am a bit sad to put this into my collection :('

well usually i rather learn from people who do make pictures i "envy" the look or technics and that impress me. That is why renderosity is interesting because people take some time to help the others. when i went on galleries of people who left comment of one of my pic, i was ashame cause they left good comment yet their own art was really putting me below the ground :) but when i have time i frankly ask a few advices or things abotu other's work '(as long as i do not ask about a secret :) i sure am longing to advices and positive criticisme, but i sure wouldnt stand the "advices" and criticismes of someone who yet never struggle with Poser limitations. one thing that already pains me enoguh is to see that most japanese website contributors to gallery simply use real renders withotu postwork (it seems to be a rule for them) and i really would like to know the basis and knowledge of poser to make such good "raw renders", aside from even postworking it.

i agree, the base idea and design is good anyway, it is just that technically it really looks like it was composited and rendered by a beginner if not worse. but a cover with sme idea/design but better done would be oki. But i think on their site this is the final version not a work in progress...

as i am a total beginenr in most/every different fields/disciplin sand skills involved into 3d art and poser render, and i only began to even touch a paint software in early may of this year 2003, i kno wi cannot in such a short time reach the level of many good people on renderosity, most of them who impress my being in fact professionnal with years of experience... i am a hobbyist, i do what i do for educationnal purpose, enjoyement and that's all... i dont think a mere entertainement/hobby really NEEDS profesionnal criticisme as i do not care /plan to sell things or find a job in this area. (but when i see art over from latest iron maiden, album, see thread on this topic, i see i can even hope reahing such a "professionnal" level :p) now for some lesson about social behavior: i do not even try to criticise someone who works in a arean/field i do not master myself, or at least have some infos and documentations, and most of all, something i am not able to even try myself to do :) so leave the unskilled cheesy beginners alone pliz

gee i stil remind how much copyrights, disclaimers and legal notices i had to write down on one brand of my free stuff (my eyes, talking about it :) I already was so discouraged when i read the threatening "federal warning" (that, left as it is in english in a game sold in my country does not have any value btw :)) from Tecmo's last game ... I even restrained myself to even use any video capture, wallpaper or screen shot as model and simply worked my thing from scratch because of that. It seems that DCMA law only works for those who already have the most money and agressive pitbull crossed lawyers with threatening extrathin suitcases :) I simply shiver in fear for the day someoen will buy a brevet/copyright patent on the word/concept of Eye, of drawing, or any basic action (it MAY be possible i am sure :). Every people having Eyes in theri skull should pay royalty then :) it is all insane

Hmmm..aaaaaaargh ! I replied while it was slowly loading on my 56k.. urk, it is REALLY awful (central Eddy claded in Death suit character seems to be drawn btw) it may be the WORST poser image i ever saw, both in compositing and such... i can humbly say even I, as a beginner since may2003 is able to do better :) please you should relabel this forum topic with the flag "violence" cause it is a real violence to the eyes :)

well at least it is one good new: one of my favorit band will release a new thing (I hope it is an album and not a cheesy live) bad news is that the really go lower and lwoer in the graphic tastes but, honnestly speaking, i dont care.. it is music (or so some call it like that, me among us), but usually i 'listen' to music, not buying an audio cd just to vomit watching a cover :) (else i know of another few awful cover arts !:)
Thread: I don't like bum files much... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hm so contrary to what the manual say, you cannot hope any good result using a real gray scale image then ? they tell the clear is raised and the dark is pushed... but so it does not read correctly, if i understood what you say, and the trick about calling grey jpg with a modified cr2 is useless ? You still can convert the .bum file poser get fro convertign your grayscale, into a jpg, and call it by foerce in the cr2 and this jpb will have the same color informations than the bum so it may use it correctly, ney ?
Thread: I don't like bum files much... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yes but the point of ou frend was that after letting Poser 4 convert all those grey jpg he has something like 1 or 2 gb worth of .bum files, while simple grey scale images could have done the same thing. So i dunno for poser propack or 5 (dont have them) but for poser4, the trick of forcing a cr2 to read a greyscale jpg seems to offer the best results...

Thread: test real skin render | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the skin tone itself reall looks good, maybe it is also because of a clever lighting but yet the skin texture have to be very great too. but intimate parts (nipples and.. below) as well as face are not very convincing.... You need a bit more contrats i thing. A good exemple of nipple textures are the basic ones enclosd in Mayadoll (they are photorealistic and very high res), have a look to have clues about it. But it is a very very impressive first try, keep going on !
Thread: Dose Anyone have more anime-style heads? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Along with new RNDA laroo (but commercial product) and Yuka from PlayWithPoser, there are few other models... One good try is to tweak existing one into an anime model, through head morph, single/simple color tone textures and eyes too (such as 7thsamurai ones for vicky2) or make your own (i recommend looking for large pictur sof japanese designer urushiara). Then to ehance the effect, you can use the Ztoon render tutorial along with it. With such technics, even a free character such as Mayadoll (sorry i really like her) is perfectly suited because she already is able to have a round head with big eyes, much like anime characters... (no i wont let myself do some shameless advertising again :)

bum files are very huge for, imho, nothing... i found a dirty trick that "seems" to work when i need a bumfile (in my packages or for personnal use). First i convert the grey/jpg picture that is supposed to be a bumpmap into a .bum file. Then i convert the .bum into jpg back, and i edit the CR2 to call this jpg instead of the original bum. easy and seemed to work in poser 4 PErsonnaly i prefer a 35kb jpg than a 2.5mb bum for same information, especially if it loads the same !
Thread: Looking for P4 eyes!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmmm spencer aren't you the one who posted them on throneworks forum and who told us you was using a special beta tools of yours to do iris patterns ? also do you have any automated method to make many mat files ? i had to make mine by hand and it took me more time than making textures :) and lastly: did you know that you could put at least P4 and v2 eyes mappings on same picture ? maybe also v3 iris, stephanie also, and (but i ma not sure) Eve ? i am working on an unified set myself to gain some space...
