lol... taking 'em apart was no problem. But I always end up with left over pieces when I try to put them back together and they never work as well. :o)

thanks, Sharen. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I shouldn't stick to doing landscapes, seascapes, etc., and leave the more advanced modelling to others more capable than I... (aside-to audience)... and speaking of capable modellers, don't forget to check out the free downloads at SAMS3D... ...but, seriously, your comment really means something to me, coming from someone whose models I've downloaded and taken apart and tried to figure out just how they were made. Someday.....

although LordOfDragons' image is mindboggling... I gotta cast a vote for Gorodin. A very powerful image.

This site has a lot of good tips, including the ones you're talking about. I'd like to see what AgentSmith is coming up with, though. If nothing else, it's bound to load faster on my slooow connection. I think the link is a German site.Thread: Bryce Forum's May Challenge Voting!!! - "The Duel" - Vote Here!!! | Forum: Bryce
okay... If I had known that there were people like humorix and vasquez out there who could do this kind of stuff with bryce alone... I probably would have stuck with doing art with a pencil and paper instead of this damned computer. :o) I feel so... what's the word.... oh, yes, inferior. After careful consideration, though, I'll have to vote for ALLEYCAT169. This image, too, shows great modelling skill, I love the theme and colors. Reminds me of those old B-grade movies my mom forced me to watch.

thanks, twillis. silly me, I thought my keyboard wasn't working right because when I hit 'print screen', nothing went to the printer. :o) There is now a large hole in my wall from repeatedly banging my head against it.

by the way, litst, don't be too hard on your guitar design. It's better than my first attempt was - naturally, you've had more practice ;o) I am still learning to draw with bezier curves, you used fewer points than I did to accomplish basically the same thing. Therefore, your post actually helped me in more ways than one, and learning is why I'm here. thank you, ~eric

item the first: I should have checked the disks again. After installing C, I had put the first disk aside and kept the contents disk handy for the models included on it. But, lo and behold, there ARE some pretty good tutorials on that first disk that I had overlooked... Thank you, Kix. item 2: litst, I hadn't tried it quite that way, obviously, but that should help tremendously. I had been extruding the shape to the thickness I wanted BEFORE converting to the vertex modeller. You're right, I feel like I am close and your advice might just put me over the top. Merci beaucoup, mon ami(amie?)!! I intend to post my creation here when it's done. 3rd: Out of curiosity... what program(s) do you guys use to do the screen shots that I've seen around here, and where can I get it. It would come in very handy.

maybe it's like Christmas... you don't get to see what's in the box until you open it. :o)
Thread: bryce on top? | Forum: Bryce
my experience has been that bryce will render even when it's minimized while you're running other programs, but the more computer resources you use up while doing other things, the slower bryce renders. LIke trying to work long division in your head while writing down the lyrics to your favorite song. It can be done [I suppose, not by me :o)], but it's gonna take longer. I run a 500 P3, with 128 MB ram, and I can render just fine while checking e-mail, word processing, etc. but if I start trying to do something intensive, like in photoshop, then everything slows down. alright, r'osity vets, am I close?

mouse, I agree... I think it was due to the placement of the light and the bars in the window, but try as I might I couldn't find any other arrangement that highlighted the dancer the way I wanted, so I left it alone... or I'd have been fiddling with it forever. Thanks all for the encouraging comments. Ya'll just ensured that there will be more to follow. :o)
