Hi Fran, Yes, You can use the $5.00 Reward towards the purchase of anything in the MarketPlace.
I tested some Clearance items and they are being added to my cart at the discounted price.
If you can provide me with a link to a product that your having this issue with I can look into it more.

It applied to the order.
The receipts dont indicate if a Gift Certificate was used or not.
Your credit card was charged $26.96. The order total minus the $5.00.

You can bring up your wishlist from the top navigation bar under **Members -> My Wishlist
**If you go to any section in the MarketPlace there is a Clearance link under the Department names.

There isnt a way for the buyer to tell when something will be deleted from the Clearance section.
Here is a direct link to the Whats New Clearance section.
