I am pretty sure you will need the morphs to use the male pack. I don't think the pack will include any body morphs (at least that is what I remember from the thread above. V3 is worth the money, though. With, or without the male morphs! eric

Thread: Manually editing HUGE CR2 files... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
gvim is a good tool for those familiar with the VI editor approach (think back to your days using unix terminals in college...if you were so lucky :) I think it can be found at gvim.org Someone here even posted a syntax highlight file to allow the various parts of the cr2 to show up in colors! My favorite is a program called ultraedit which does good job on large files (and can do all sorts of search & search / replaces across files and directories...I use it pretty much daily) Unfortunately, it costs a few dollars (but is really worth it if you edit text files a lot) eric

Some nice looking stuff, John. I'm looking forward to Jim Burton's revised Posette (have't tried the current one yet, but plan on doing so) It should raise interest in posette items considerably. (I always hated that there were so many great items for posette, that simply didn't work well with V) eric

Thread: Victoria 3 Render Problems | Forum: Vue
I had a Radeon All In Wonder (first generation) that just wasn't fast enough for vue to utilize (so the acceleration was left off). The machine I was using at the time was ~750 and the OS was win2k. You might check ATI for new drivers. I know that many problems I had with my old ATI card (now am using nVidia) were due to the use of generic reference drivers rather than specific video card drivers. eric

Hey Anton, just keep this limitation in mind when scouting features for Daz Studio, eh? That really is a great feature of v2, and will likely be a reason v2 and m2 don't fall out of usefulness for me. The people I try to portray generally don't look quite as ideal as most of these models tend to, and the scaling is very helpful bringing this accross. Eric

Vicky 3 is the first figure I've noticed to be completely unable to use scaling as part of the shape of the figure (which was very important in creating non-vickiesh figures) I guess they had to decide whether to do better bends or to allow scaling...:( I've tried several things, magnets working best. However, I think even shrinking some areas with magnets caused weird behavior (haven't tried it in a while) eric

A trick I use is to save the null loader as the default figure (so when you start a new poser document, there is always a "millinium null" in scene. It does occassionally cause problems, but it can easily be deleted. I almost never use non-mil figs (though JBs enhanced posette might change that :) eric

Thread: The Benefits of Morph Injection? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think it is an excellent thing to do. There are certainly times when people use technology just because it's there, but in this case, I really think that it is a huge advantage to users. It might not be perfectly clear, to everyone, but I think that there is a lot of flexability for those who sell as well as those of us who are just creating characters for series of images. If for no other reason, imagine all of your unique characters taking up no more than a few hundred K. Applying the pose might take a minute, but certainly not any longer than loading V2 did (of course creating such a pose will require effort beyond what poser offers). There was a time when I had 10-20 v2 characters hogging disk space in my characters folder. That was 300+ megabytes, most of which was repeated (and unused) morph information. Such is no longer necessary. Eric

Thread: Victoria III Morph targets will not take in Pose Files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just tried to imitate a face injection using a quick morph I threw together and it works quite nicely. However, I was using portions of DAZ injector files (not really any delta information, just the frame work) and I am not certain which of it would violate copyright, so I don't feel comfortable posting it as an example (the geometry was derived from magnets, though) Frankly, the morphs are well worth the money. The faces alone are fantastic (you can actually get some pretty faces without any effort at all....of course, so can everyone else :) Also, having them will be very helpful for those who wish to earn cash selling new characters. One really nice thing about this approach, it is soooo much easier than the old approach (at least when using magnets) because your base cr2 file is practically empty (and your destination pz2 file is a single morph) It means that you can do it by hand with out much trouble at all. I'll have to go check out that FAQ...haven't read it yet:) Thanks Chris eric

I think the approach is going to require a different approach, though I am very sure that there is support for non-DAZ morphs built into the newest vicky. I am guessing that an empty vicky will require something to be injected (using the same channel as you are using for your morph) I suspect that you can do the injection directly, but it will require studying the stuff already present for vicky. Perhaps a quick test would be to use a pre-existing DAZ channel (name). Load the original (allowing whatever is necessary for the injection to take place) and then use your own. If that works, just study how they did their injector to make yours an injectible quantity. Also, there has been mention (from Dan Farr, I believe) of 2 different channel schemes: Daz, and community (bearing CD and CC in the channel names, respectively) The idea is, if you want to avoid trampling over DAZ morphs, or having DAZ morphs trampling over yours, use the community dials (since DAZ will never use those names in anything they distribute) That is just a guess. I'm still trying to get ahold the volume of morphs already present (if you don't own any of the morph kits, I'm sure someone will post a tutorial soon) I would be happy to try it, myself, but I will be leaving in a half hour to do X-Mas stuff, and won't return before late this evening.
