Thanks to you all for your helpful answers.
@Toxicwolf: I've realised it looks alright once rendered although a little shine sometimes subsists on the render. I don't know much about shaders, i must say it's rather hard to understand how it works.
I have 2 characters, one "normal" one shiny, both look fantastic (i don't know if I can mention the vendors)
Rendering of the shiny one takes much much longer (I'd say 4 to 6 times) even on PP2010, so without using the SSS.
Why is that so?

Oh, I do play alright! ;-)
I don't have PP2012 and the newer shader looks weird in PP2010

Quote - I'm working on a tutorial, you can find the preliminary version here:
Link to file: http://www.artbeeweb.nl/aRtBee_-_Understanding_the_Poser_Program.pdf
although most attention goes to machines having resource problems. Same for render settings, most of them are for (test)rendering on machines with lower specs. But there might be some useful tips in the tut.
That is a very useful tutorial.
Thanks for sharing.
Thread: Problem texturing | Forum: Poser Technical
Not a really important question, and I lack the technical knowledge to understand anyway, I way just applying a logical thought to the situation I'm in:
I had to turn off the filtering for my textures to show (option none), because they didn't appear when on (fast or quality) .
I was thinking the problem would reappear should I use filtering again, be it crisp.
Thread: Problem texturing | Forum: Poser Technical
I may at some point. But I upgraded to 2010 x64 not so long ago, silly me , eh?
I'm very happy with it (but for the library window)
Silly question: how can I use "crisp" if I have to remove filtering for my textures to show? Maybe studuing the links you provided will tell me.
At the moment, I am attempting something: trying to render architectural projects in POSER instead of 3DSMAX.
It may sound stupid and an heresy but Poser is much more user friendly (compare camera & light management, for example) and in my view, the render quality at least equivalent.

If you don't mind, what does texture filtering do ? (Some -very- basic info is good enough to satify my curiosity)

Problem solved thanks to Mr "Bagginsbill".
In the MAT ROOM - advanced, check TEXTURE FILTERING to none.
Thread: Problem texturing | Forum: Poser Technical
OK, found texture filtering in the advanced MAT ROOM, changed the option from quality to none, et voila!
The grass now appears fine in the render.
Sir, you're just incredible. Hat's off and once again, thanks a lot!

Hi Ted,
Nice to see you're still "haunting" the forum.
Sorry, I realised too late, I have duplicated my post in the adequate section when I realised but forgot to delete this one...
Windows 7, POSER PRO 2010, what's SR?
No idea what texture filtering is. I have just applied a jpeg as diffuse color.
Thanks for the help
Thread: BRYCE/POSER | Forum: Bryce
Thanks, it's very hard to find any info on BRYCE.
I've tried DAZ but I'm hooked to POSER: it is just weak on landscapes (natural terrain, montains, lakes...) and I need that for a long term project.
I have tried TERRAGEN but found it a pain to use, and what I've seen in the BRYCE gallery looks fantastic and looks just like what I need.
Do you think it fits the bill and is worth trying it?

Quote - You know everybody as members of the P-Party, we should lobby for Dr. Geep to become the Secretary of Education. One he teaches us all great stuff. Two it's free. Just think what an education budget saver the good Doctor is! :thumbupboth:
Of course I hear he will be at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend for the Nascar race with a set of magnets trying to make the banks even steeper
Yeah, he sure should be. But you've all been very helpful.
PS: Papa Schultz, is that you?
