Quote - With out DAZ's Vicky's 1,2,3,4 would Poser and web site stores exist ?
How many companies has Poser belong too ?
DAZ buys App's ,will DAZ buy Poser one day ?
Does Poser Die with V4 ?
DAZ buying poser would be a waste of money. They already have d/s and should just stick to what they do best...selling content. Wasting resources to look after both d/s and poser would drive them under.
I dont think you will ever get a cross platform figure to the same scale as you had with V4. Back then the technologies were close enough to have cross platform figures. But now the technology gap is getting wider and wider so as to really make it impossible.
DAZ tried to bridge the gap somewhet with dson...but they can only go so far, there has to be some help on the other side of the gap as well, and that has not happened.
So right now since genesis 1 and 2 sales are leaving all previous generations in the dust. I really cannot see it as a big concern for them. Right now they are doing well in pushing the content market to new levels and keep growing on what they do best.

Thread: RANT: Why no spandex or cloth stretching across breasts morphs/modelling? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a set available for Genesis and Dawn (at their respective sites) to create a spandex body suit look for the figures using morphs. (Look for "No-Suit")
You can apply the chest morph for spandex under any outfit and it will deal with the "over clingy" tops
Thread: Dawn's Impact on the Poserverse. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dawn has made an impact, how much is up to personal opinion.
Unlike other dedicated releases for poser figures, I think Dawn should have a much longer life span, simply because of the people that are behind her. But I think her potential has not even been close to have been reached at this point.
She will have a much slower grownt than any daz figures, simply because of the size of the team working on her. HW3d is a smaller company than DAZ, so it will take time before we see her fully fleshed out.
As for mending of fences. I think that simply depends on what you want mended.
DAZ and Smith micro have different goals in how they grow. DAZ makes money from content, and SM from the software (yeah, there is content paradice...but come on..really?). So as such DAZ is looking for ways to make the content better and better and building the technology to ensure that will happen.
The type of content that will work for poser quality products is a market that is already saturated. So they are finding ways of being able to make products that go beyond that level and give customers even more bang for their buck.
Because of this, the technology will continue to move in two different directions. That type of thing will probably never be mended.
Poser and DAZ are seperate entities, and they will only continue to drift apart as time goes on, and no amount of screaming for mending of fences will change that. DAZ has no control over what tech poser wants to put into their software, but they know what they need for the future growth of their figures, so that is where they will grow.
Thread: Looking to do a render, need a recommendation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A couple suggestions:
night-world-fallen at Daz
Maybe with this texture: satyrnia at Daz
Or
rae-el-the-demon at Daz.
Thread: Poser 2010 library stopped working | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We have been having the same problem with PP2010 here.
I know there was a recent update for AIR, and am wondering if that update could have been corrupted.
But I am here looking for answers as well

Thread: SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR DAWN | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The stretching on the chest is acceptable for the textures. It would look odd if it didnt stretch.
Fabric, unless it is custom tailored for the person will stretch around areas like that. So I guess it will depend on how "off the rack" your hero buys her clothes LOL
Great suit...I cannot wait to use it in renders.

Quote - Zev0,
You don't give up so easily do you, even if it is evident that you have no idea what you are speaking of.
Of course he has to resculpt, that is understood between "Export Dawn and "After the modifications. What modifications do you think it is? My god.Strixowl,
You are doing quite correct in that you test the workflow before you start. It is stupid to model for three hours only to get "Geometery did not match. Failed to create morp".
Check and double check that you have set SubDivision Level to 0. Export out Dawn and immediatly load her back as morph as she is. Don't give up until you get "Created morph successfully". Then you can start the lengthy modification process.
Why are so many people in these forums so quick to proclaim that others dont know what they are talking about?
Have you seen all the morphs zevo has made?
I think it is safe to say he does know exactly what he is talking about.
The point is that things were not clear.
First...is the person trying to make dawn look like genesis, or genesis look like dawn?
It is probably at that point where they are getting confused and running into that error.
Obviously if someone tries to bring Dawn in as a morph onto genesis, it wont work because the mesh is different, and vice verse if someone tries to bring genesis in as a morph for dawm.
The part that has to be made clear is that If you want a dawn shape on genesis, you have to shape the genesis mesh into dawn using whatever sculpting program you have, and then bring in that reshaped genesis as the morph. Bearing in mind that when the genesis mesh gets exported from d/s it should be at it's most base resolution to make the morph. (and if you wanted a genesis shape on dawn...then invert the names I mentioned and keep the same process)
It is alot easier to try to solve the problem than to go out of your way to insult someone else who is also trying to help. There was a time where the rosity forums were a really great place to go for information, without all this posturing.

RawArt, I KNEW you were a nice person. I knew it, and I knew it from the very beginning...
Sorry...TrueBlood Day. (That was a Warlow quote)
Yeah..it's true...I am a hellova guy :P
As for Warlow....I had high hopes for a real good evil villian there, now it looks like he may be the hero who takes down the evil "Billith"......They really need better evil in that series :P

Quote - Will DAZ Studio Geo-Graphting work with messes like Dawn or any mesh that's not a DAZ Mesh ?
All that we can do to a DAZ mesh ,Can we do that to any mesh in DAZ Studio ?
Geografting is a function of DAZ Studio, and does not rely on the specifically made meshes.
Any figure brought into D/S can effectively have geografted parts made for it and added to it.
However, that will preclude it to being a d/s only product (unless people want to go the dson route for poser)
Thread: the Dawn of a new day... | Forum: Freestuff
Interesting how people are determined to tell me I am wrong, by trying to attribute details to the generalities I was saying.
But the reality is that there is currently no way to make products for both poser and d/s that wont involve significant work..and people should brace themselves that pricing may affect that.
That is really all I was saying.

Weight mapping doesnt really make things easier.
Since the weight mapping is still different in each program, they will likely need to be made seperately as well.
The ways of applying morphs are different
The shader set-up is different so textures have to be made independantly
Sp they really are completely seperate animals when it comes to making content.

Quote - I hate making uvs and promos....just thought I'd put that out there ;). LOL
On a slightly more thread-appropriate note: will you guys (Rawn, Zev0, etc) be around to answer any dumb questions from Poser saavy, but not so DS saavy users? LOL That would be real nice ;).
Laurie
Yeah...I tend to hover in the various forums....so I will probably be pretty regular at hivewire too.
Always glad to help when I can

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - Afterall...lets face it....making stuff for poser is about 5 times the work as it is for d/s.
Wether you like daz or not, you can tell by their software that they come from a content creation background and really do give great tools to make content creation a much more streamlined process.....whereas for poser most of the methods of doing things are hacks that need alot of independantly created apps to even start to do effectively, and even then it often requires a ton of hand editing to get just what you want.
I am really not looking forward to going back to make poser versions.

Then don't
I really not looking forward to getting stuff from someone who hates doing it
So if I hate making texture sets for Both Daz and Poser, and because I do does that mean people wont buy it? I do not get that reasoning. How does that affect the buyers decision? Whether we hate or love creating content for a particular app should have no bearing on whether people buy it or not. Just as long as it is available. That is all that counts. I do not see rainbows and fairies when I make content, infact I hate it most of the time because theres always problems. So because I do people are not gonna buy them? That's a bit silly.
Yeah Zev...I didnt take that as a serious answer to the issue. That was just something to provoke contraversy and detract from the point.
The reality is that we will no doubt end up making products for both platforms, because that is what the customers want. This is a job and not just something we do for fun...so like most jobs, there are things about it that you do not like so much. But simply not doing it is not the answer.
