It's very exciting to see the preview of DAZ Studio and Vicky 3! I'm especially happy that you're supporting OS X with it, and look forward to its eventual release. A few basic requests: 1. Would you please, PLEASE clothe Vicki in the preview image? 2. As mentioned before, Bier curve animation with Maya-like scaling/translating/rotating abilities in the graph editor would be wonderful. Also the ability to view multiple parameters in the graph editor simultaneously. That would make every variety of concurrent and overlapping motion, from blinks to walks, a lot faster to do. 3. Maya-style camera controls where you can use various click combinations on a three-button mouse to zoom, translate and rotate the camera within a window, without needing to click on a separate controller.

You win some; you lose some. While it's sad that CuriousLabs has slackened in its commitment to the Mac platform, I wouldn't say the market overall is turning away from the Macintosh. Besides, we've got great programs like BBEdit and iMovie that won't run on Windows at all--and these programs are very useful for working with Poser. Apple's transition to OS X hasn't been without its bumps, but in the long run, I think it will make developers much more supportive of the Mac. That said, I wish there were a Mac version of The Tailor! And P5... but that's a little beyond my budget now anyway. A release date of next year should be just right for me to buy it--or DAZ's mystery product--when the money exists.

Poser 4 runs okay in Classic mode. There are plenty of alternatives to Poser for creating humans, but they're a lot more expensive and time-consuming. You can build some great human models in Maya, for example, but it's far more convenient to use the ready-made models in Poser. That said, DAZ 3D is working on a Poser-like program that will support Poser 4 products. No word yet on when it will be out, for Mac OS X or otherwise. I don't think they've said anything about a Mac version, but I bought Mimic from them, and it runs natively in OS X, which is a good sign.

Thanks! I was getting worried that I'd have to go in and manually add 1317 to every keyframe in the pose. :)

Awesome! I've been looking forward to the uniform at PoserStyle, and your textures will make it even more wonderful.

There was a demo of P4, but it didn't come out until months, maybe over a year after the full version was released.

I dunno, but they do have a bit of a picture up now of something that will be there--apparently a texture for Vicki--in their new Flash homepage.
Thread: Mac OS X 10.2 and P4 in Classic Mode | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the suggestion, Jayhawk. I selected the OS 9.2.2 Basic extension set and restarted Classic, but it's still doing the same thing. Reducing Poser's preferred memory setting didn't help either. Another weird thing that Poser's been doing ever since I installed Jaguar is, when I'm using my Graphire tablet, it seems to shift the usable screen area for the cursor a few pixels to the right. You know how usually part of the cursor is hidden when you move it to one side of the screen, but you can't move it all the way off? Well, using my Graphire stylus in P4, the cursor now stops a few pixels short of the left edge of the screen, and goes all the way off the right edge. What's up with that? Though OS 10.2 is better in some areas, I think it's really devolved in application-switching ability. In 10.1, when cmd-tabbing between applications, you could just hit the shift key while holding down the apple key to go back. Now that does nothing, and you have to use all three keys (cmd-shift-tab) to go backwards. On the plus side, however, its new preference for cmd-tabbing to the last-used app rather than the next item in the dock is nice.

Yes, it's 10.2.1, and I have 512MB of RAM, so that's not a problem. I just checked the process manager, and I appear to have at least 100MB free. I haven't asked about it yet at the Apple forums, but will wander over there now.

THIS IS IT!!! ---> > *30% off all DAZ original products, including 30% off products already on sale One could read that as a flat 30% off the products in total, as 30% off the sale price of products already on sale, or 30% off the original price in addition to the 30% off from the sale. In other words, that language could mean that with a Platinum membership, DAZ products on sale for 30% off could actually be (a) 30% off, (b) 51% off, or (c) 60% off. It's ambiguous, but Anton seems to have clarified that (a) is the correct interpretation.

Can you use DAZ vouchers to further discount the Platinum Club membership price? How about applying the 30-day price guarantee to items previously bought on sale and with vouchers? So if I got the Adventurers a few weeks back for $2.47 after the Medieval Sale and voucher deductions, could I get it for $1.99 and save the $0.48... or even re-use the vouchers on other things? ;)

I agree. Poser 4 is the only OS 9 application I regularly use anymore (my scanner driver excepted), and although it runs fine in Classic mode, running two systems at once takes away precious RAM from Poser! I do hope CL will release P5 for Mac soon, especially if it's fully Carbonized.
Thread: Mimic for Vickie and Mike | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I hope this isn't too OT, but have any of you tried using Mimic to animate singing? Does Mimic pick up background music or noise, or does it pick out the actual voice track pretty well? Does it interfere with any other morphs-- adding keyframes to Mouth A, say-- beyond the particular phonemes it uses? Now that the Mac version is out, I'd like to know. Thanks, Brian
