I don't think there is a direct way to do it. The indirect method will cover 1 and 2 though- just make an empty document (template.car) with 4 view and production frame on. Save it. Then open that instead of creating a new document. Not the best answer, but it does work. Markd

Should work fine. Probably only need to animate the color channel in the shader. You could even get fancy and instead of using a simple value in the blender, you could make a more complex shader that shifts from 0-100- using something like noise, or checkers, for instance, depending on what you want the effect to look like. Skys the limit! ;-) If you get stuck, post again. Markd

Dunno about the acceleration, but I wondered about this-
"For instance, an applied texture can be moved on a surface during animation but not changed to a different texture without changing the texture throughout."
I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but it is pretty easy to change a texture in an animation by using a mixer with texture 1 and 2 in the sources, and a value in the blender. Start the value at 0 for text1 to show, animate it to 100 for text2. If you need to change all the channels (color, highlight, glow, etc) you would need one mixer in each, with all the blenders synced, or all pointing to a reference shader.

Under windows, Visual C++ 6.0 and up should work. All editions. No idea if older versions would work. Markd
Thread: What does Optimize Shader do? | Forum: Carrara
Just played with it a little- I don't know about pointing out errors, but it does thses things-- 1) If you have a value slider set to 0, it removes it completely 2) If you have a color set in a channel that uses a value (refraction, bump, shininess) it replaces it with a value slider set to the appropriate amount. 3) It collapses unused branches- if you have an add with an empty operand, it removes the add and moves up the one operand you have. All these changes would save time when rendering. I think Optimize trys to make your shader as simple as it can. Cool! I'll have to start using this function! Thanks for pointing it out! Markd

Amen to that. I chase all over the place. Luckily most of them are relatively low traffic. I have asked some "stupid coding questions" on the SDK list, and haven't been laughed off it yet, but I agree that ideally those questions don't belong there. Google can answer a LOT of questions. The dynamic help in the new .NET C++ is awesome too. There seems to be a real burst of interest in the SDK lately- hopefully we'll see some cool new stuff in a couple of months! Markd

Hi Donnie- You probably already are, but you didn't say it- are you clicking the axis? I did this little tutorial that shows the steps that worked for me. . I am on XP pro. http://www.des-web.net/html/tutorials.html Markd

Dude, you're supposed to rest on the 7th day. ;-) Nice bike! I'd like to see a different background color on the final render- the gray is eating some of the nice details. (quick release lever on front wheel, front brake cable) Also, there looks to be something quirky on the rear reflector- should that much of it show? Markd

Whoa! Ok, I've never seen it do that! I'd zip that puppy up and send it to Eovia for debug. Markd
