My sentiments entirely JB
There has been an awful lot of comments on the geek forums on the roxio/norton/M$ (sorry Microsoft) habit of inserting DLL's that do not uninstall. There was I recall an advisory from MS not six months back that if you installed Roxio 5 and upgraded to media player 7.1 it would hard crash your system because media player had cd rom burning software built in. MS advised not using Roxio and reinstalling the OS.
There is nothing more frustrating than having software go tits up (technical term).
CL was under immense pressure to produce P5, not only financial, but pressure from this very forum. I remember some of the threads from three of four months back when Steve Cooper first put up some P5 screenshots that the
pressure built and built until really CL had to do something or lose total credibility.
I lucky enough have a stable but slow P5 and I'm happy waiting for the wrinkles to be ironed out of SR1.
I agree with Hein, though. I'm just completing an order for components to build a poser only machine - 1000 so far counting.
Some Cheap upgrade

Giving up on it until I am A) Sure that the files are properly debugged and tested (I've read all the threads on yesterday night) B) The servers are less overcrowded. I'm on a 56K modem - no ADSL round our way yet. I use Getright (licensed version) and watched some amazment the little sign "this server does not allow resume" With a 47Mb file? Bill's quite right they are probably losing a significant bandwidth from failed attempts. P

I used to live that way myself (well Hackbridge/Sutton really). You will find for no apparent obvious reason the order status will go to shipped- and then they won't know whats happening and what the shipping number is and so on. If it wasn't so frustrating it would be funny. P

The only probs you may have is with you meory and the OS I run on an AMD 1.2 Ghz and 512Mb and it runs fine - but I have win2k. Seems P5 tend to sway towards the NT memory map. The program is a beast. I liken it to the plant in "a little shop of horrors".. you know the one that shouts FEED ME the more memory the better. Paul

Crikey Poserschool! well done I point you to some of the install strings. I defragged all my drives, upped my virtual memory and went for it. The only crashes I have had are the common ones- moving between rooms too quickly. If you use firefly with all the rendering options checked you'll have time for a nice cup of tea ;-) uncharitable people may say also a leisurely five mile walk as well, but it is not that slow! Worth it though oh my word yes Slowly tearing what little is left of my hair over the face room at the moment.... Dotty Doc Cooper

well CL is an echoing void - one can only download cow skulls so often..
Here is the image I promised
Judy on the left (time taken 7 hours)
Victoria 2 on right (time taken 1 hour)
inset is one of the DVD images for comparison..
hair slapped together to hide big bulging foreheads..
Texture a modified Gaia form SteffyZ(on both)
I suppose one of the things I might try is to do a front and profile of Victoria and put that into the face studio and see how close Judy conforms.
