Thread: Faster downloading images please... | Forum: Vue
Thanks for the hint, Scott--as I'm sitting directly on a 100MBit connection at work, I sometimes lose touch with reality (despite the 56K modem I use at home ;) ). I promptly resized my latest image to reduce file size. ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: WIP: first render with motion blur. Feedback appreciated. | Forum: Vue
Hi agiel, the blur was made using Vue4. I had to crank up supersampling to 12 subsamples and "best quality" to get a smooth result. scaling down the image has helped, too (was originally rendered at 1600x1200). I found it pretty hard to get noise-free results with motion blur in Vue4. @YL, thanks a lot. :) have a nice week-end, -Sascha.rb

I agree with Axe. Broadcast is fine as long as you don't use any soft shadowing and/or light gels, or if you can live with grainy images. But only with user settings will you be able to exploit the software the best--at a price, mind. (hello 3h render jobs.) ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: Bug in screen refresh (vue 4.10-02) ! | Forum: Vue
It's indeed a problem of NVIDIA's driver set. Vue uses multithreaded OpenGL rendering in different windows, something that can produce problems for NV drivers (see below). You can fix the issue by disabling the "background rendering thread" in Vue's properties (just above the OpenGL bit) or falling back on Microsoft's software OpenGL drivers as suggested by Tomsde. I have been bugging NV about this issue for some time, now, but it's very low on their priorities list, apparently. For some reason, Vue seems to be the only program that doesn't work properly with multithreaded OpenGL rendering (other professional OpenGL applications work just fine). It's probably an issue that has to be resolved by NV and e-on in tandem, i.e. NV will have to review e-on's code to provide some solutions for e-on to implement. I doubt NV will change their whole OpenGL drivers architecture just to please Vue users. ;) ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: The Vue 5 Wish List! | Forum: Vue
Hi Guitta, no offence, but I still don't grasp the concept behind this: "People who needs more then what Vue is able to offer, have to buy another program." What's the point of a wish list, then? Or releasing ANY further versions of Vue, for that matter? I totally agree with your other arguments in your postings such as "a real artist is able to do more with Vue than a non-artist" and the like, but yes--let e-on decide what's completely over the top and what's not. This is not least of all a business decision. There's no need to pre-filter a wish list. After all, Lynn and Steve read this board too, have read the suggestions, too, and quite probably have received more suggestions directly by e-mail as well . . . Just my 2c, and as I said: no offence meant. :=) ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: Siggraph 2002, Me, You,Nicholas and Richard too! | Forum: Vue
Damn. This year's Siggraph is shaping up to be much fun (ATi, e-on, 3DLabs, SGI, Pixar . . . ), and here's me feeling the sting from company budget cuts. :( Oh, well. Have fun! And be sure to tell us about those other new developments. ;) ta, -Sascha.rb

I found your tutorial via the e-on homepage, a couple of days back. I enjoyed it tremendously. good work! -Sascha.rb
Thread: New Pic -- Feedback Welcome :=) | Forum: Vue
Hi Ozan, Hi Guitta, thank you very much for your feed-back. Hudson River it is, btw. ;) I will keep your suggestions in mind, Ozan, and will probably redo the image as well. I think you're very right about the tricylce; that object was more of a goof anyway (just got trueSpace and was trying out importing .cob files into Vue). So, again: thanks. :=) ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: Vue d'Esprit 4.1 Released! | Forum: Vue
err, and that was smallspace. not snallspace. blame this bloody "ergonomic" keyboard, if you may. ;) .rb
Thread: Vue d'Esprit 4.1 Released! | Forum: Vue
@snallspace LOL my thoughts, exactly. :D I have to say, though, that I am not too happy with Caligari about their release policy. the best trueSpace version to date is still V4.1, IMO. and that works fine with Vue 4 . . . ;) ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: VOTING FOR THE JUNE CHALLENGE | Forum: Vue
Here's another for "Summerwind" (gebe-1). A lot of very nice pictures, and nightvoice's 2nd especially made me think long and hard, but--Summerwind it is. The cloth effects are just too convincing. ;) well done, gebe. ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: nVidia detonator drivers 29.42 | Forum: Vue
That's weird. The issue you described has been haunting me for each and every Detonator release PRIOR to 29.42. Only with the latest drivers, Vue's OpenGL renderer works properly on my system--provided you disable the background rendering thread in Vue's options. GF3 classic, Win98SE, DX8.1 ta, -Sascha.rb
Thread: The Vue 5 Wish List! | Forum: Vue
Hi gebe, but is that a reason to hold back with suggestions how Vue might be improved? I think all here have a good reason to use Vue d'Esprit, and it might not necessarily be its inexpensiveness. I have suggested Vue to many, many people over the past year, and quite a number of those artists have bought Vue and are happy with it. Why? Because it gives them easy to handle tools, excellent atmosphere and vegetation functions, and a more than decent raytracer. I don't see anything wrong with suggesting new features and improvements for this already excellent rendering application, especially not as many of the features presented in this thread can be, I might add, rather easily implemented, too. Nobody is asking for Vue 5 to turn into the next Lightwave or Maya. But who knows how far Vue 10 might come . . . ;) again, sorry if I appear too zealous and inpolite. It is not my goal to offend people. :=) Best wishes, -Sascha.rb
Thread: The Vue 5 Wish List! | Forum: Vue
LOL I rather not. :) On the other hand side, I wouldn't mind paying, say, $500 for Vue 5 if it featured all propositions made in this thread by the verious posters . . . ;=) ta, -Sascha.rb
