alltho all nvidia cards are covered in the "unified driver package",the newer nvidia drivers are intended more for the newer cards, the gf3's and gf4's.driver development for the older cards stopped a long while back, and many people will tell you not to bother with the latest and greatest drivers for these cards.they're just as likely to cause problems or degrade performance as they are to fix or help anything on a pre-gf3 card. if you're running winXP there is a driver update available from MS's windows update, these are nvidia's drivers but certified for XP from Microsoft,i believe the version number is 23.**?these work well in XP and are about the best trafeoff for stability and feature support for all the older nvidia based cards.
Thread: Keep your antivirus program up to date | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yes i hear what you're saying Ron,i held on to netscape 4.7 for a long while just to use it's email client, which i liked and was quite used too, these day's i use a program called "pocomail" which alltho not quite what i wanted,is fairly customizable and does get the job done with pretty minimal fuss. do a search on any of the big share-ware sites and you'll find more than a few options to try, some free, others inexpensive. my whole point is it seems that everytime you hear about a new virus or worm it seems to be targeted at the MS software that everyone seems to STILL use,now giving everyone equal credit for intelligence why would you keep using software that you know is vulnerable and that "the bad guys" are targeting?this is the part that baffles me they write these dastardly little things counting on the fact that you do use this software..if you don't.. well you still get the virus but maybe it doesn't do anything but set off your virus scanner, and even in the worst case maybe it causes you some problems but everybody you know doesn't get sent a copy...with your address on it!

JHoagland...this is a question i ask myself everyday!why do people continue to use outlook??i mean seriously this is one dangerous application!most worms are written specifically for it,any of those virii that auto send themselves to all your contacts..where do you think they look for those address's?they're programmed to go find outlook and then use it! i mean geez i wouldn't touch that program with a ten foot pole, there are many email progs available, there is no need to use such a insecure program. i'm not paranoid about virus's i know a fair bit about computer's,i don't get many, and if i do i can usually deal with them, but many people are so very paranoid and yet they use that infernal virus incubater called outlook!i don't get it....

nice...i'm not sure who did this model,i have it as well, you've done a really nice job with it,but i'm not sure you could really sell it... one thing with this model is the front grill/bumper.there seems to be some extra faces attached to the bumper in the corners just below the signal lights...for all i know maybe the real thing is like that, but i don't think so,they look suspiciously like some sort of "leftover" from a boolean or maybe some other operation that wasn't quite totally sucessfull.in any case i found it looks a lot better with those faces deleted.again tho, really nice job,i'm fully aware of what you started with....

hmmmm i know 3dsmax has a function[in the utilities tab] that will do this for you,i'm pretty sure poser doesn't have any funcunality in this area, but other software packages might...what program are we talking about here?
Thread: OT: My monitor lied to me now it is dead. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
nope no two monitors are the same..i have two 17" ones in front of me...both the same manufacturer, one just a model revision newer than the other, both have the same CRT and specs but both are different...i find the best way to get em looking ship-shape is to use the "adobe gamma loader" software that ships with photoshop.the really important bit is to get the phospher/white point specs for your particular monitor to plug into it[these are often listed on the manufacturer's website]this makes a huge difference,it takes a lot of the guess work away...but i still need to fudge a bit to get them looking the same:)
Thread: A Way to Better Renders? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if you have the propack..there are plugins that let you host pz3's in 3DSMax,lightwave and i think now cinema4d, other than that tho i think poser4's renderer is the only game in town...
Thread: Creature Creator review? Anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i can't say i know anything about the new 1.6 ver..and can't seem to find anything on their website about it either...i have tried the "old" 1.52 ver,so everything i'm about to say is based on that version and may or may not still be true... assuming you can get the whole thing working right[i never really could]the resulting mesh's are at best a starting point.the standard P4 mesh's are several orders of magnitude better...truthfully if you have the skill to rework what comes out of this prog, you might as well just start from scratch,it'll be about the same amount of work!if you're looking for quick and nasty somewhat low poly character's for say video games or background use, maybe this might be useful but otherwise....
Thread: more Max morph problems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
i assume you're using the habware obj2max,max2obj plugins?if not get them,if you already have them change the vertex scale parameter on the plugin dialog...put it at 100 when you import, don't forget to decrease the scale when you export! set the output plugs vertex scale to 0.01 and all should be well
Thread: The Tailor Demo. Where is it ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Thread: with updater I can no longer export. obj. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
well well well...i just tried on my dual monitor setup,i don't normally export things that way[i just grab the figure i want from the geometries folder and import to 3dsmax]i got the thing to export just fine, but you're right there's no progress screen, but i know there used to be!no lockups or anything tho... running Poser pro [SR3] on winXP Pro with dual monitors

ummm Little Dragon...it's not any sort of competition or anything,i was just showing what the thing looked like.your message almost gives me the impression you feel you were somehow insulted??if that's the case,it sure wasn't my intention! and no,you're right, there are no maps on that "skinny" guy in the pic :)

yes the vertabrae make it more difficult to pose...most figures have just a few "segments" in the torso, usually it's hips, abdomen, chest, neck or something to that effect.the AV skel has all the vertabrae, plus all the discs between them...all are pose-able!so while the AV skel will take poses, and most of it's parts will go where they are supposed too,the spine usually stays straight. you will have to adjust it manually for each pose and this is no small task,it has many parts!now that i think of it...i may see if i can group or parent all the bits into a few separate groups to make things a bit easier i do think the AV is the best looking skeleton,it really only seems lacking when paired up with the morphing skull, which is just a fantastic model.both were probably built from digital scans and are pretty accurate. i think the difference between them is likely that the full skeleton was "optimized" quite a bit to get the poly count down to a manageable level for a full figure, you unavoidably lose detail that way. heh heh.. i have a pz3 stored on my HD with the AV skeleton holding a scimitar in one hand and a dirty looking round sheild in the other...it's all ready to go i've just never gotten around to the animating part :)
