No, although you're using open gl for the preview, the renderwork has to be done by software. Accelerator cards ,even a gforce 4, are built to render fixed catalog of forms an textures, which have to be delivered by a game-engine. The structure of the hardware needs that kind of cooperation in order to render in real-time. A shader-unit on a gaphic-card needs to know what to do before the work can be startet. A rendering-software is not a game-engine. So there will allways be some kind of "delay". To get rid of that, your cpu should have at least 10 GHZ !Maybe you have to buy a gforce 25!! But seriosly,a normal workstation with only one or maybe two processors cannot be so fast at the moment. ps:maybe you should use at least 1Gig ram rollmops :-)

Thread: new pic, new question :) | Forum: Vue
Hi,try to use the tree trunk of the dead trees and choose a texture you like most for the material instead of the original one (fototexture ?).For the leaves you can get some textures of the freestuff-area (high-definition)and apply them on alpha-planes.From the point of view shown in the picture you do not have to built the complete tree to get a more realistic result. rollmops :-)

I think another important point is the system youre running!I my case its Windows NT 4 with SP6.The great advantage is the possibilty to control the systems parameters like memory-adressing,etc.If youre running Win 98 Se,Win 95 or Win Me, you might miss some of that features. I didnt clearly found out the limits of my computer yet,but I startet with an 6 year old 166 MHZ Pentium; what forced my to look at resourses of my PC. My scenes are getting bigger and bigger but I still try to reduce (I hate non realtime-previews and render- ing-times over 47 hours !). So reduce polys whereever you can ! rollmops :-)

I think my wish for Vue 5 would be an improvement of the export abilities (plants!?). rollmops :-)

Honestly,Vue in his assumption of features is a wonder- full programm !Although Im using other software as well (even of the 1990 Euro-league),I decided to buy Vue after testing the demo for a few months. To get a result Im not using only one programm for a project. But anyhow there is everytime something to improve; not in general perhaps, but in details. rollmops :-)

Hi,I read about that mysterios "polygon-limit" in my German manual.Maybe the authors refered to their minimum 300 Mhz Pentium with 64 MB Ram .Anyway JoeBlack you should get the 4.1 update as Guitta said. rollmops :-)

Thread: high polygon problem encountered....AGAIN :( | Forum: Vue
As already said, wow! Im working with an Athlon XP 1800+ and 1024 MB ram. Even my computer wouldnt feel convenient. In the handbook I got with Vue 4 600000 polygons are announced the be the limit! My scenes are about 2 million polygons, and even programms as cinema 4DXL (6.3)are getting slow ,I can tell you! So reduce the amount ,use less in the background and more in the foreground when necessary. rollmops :-)

Hi, what about much more speed in the final rendering !! And more insight and control in the great black-box solid-growth (exchange of materials, calibration of the plant parts). At least more precision of the working windows would be nice. ps. why is an imported object almost invisible in the wireframe ? rollmops :-)

Thread: What's a good way to learn Photoshop? | Forum: Photoshop
Hi,here's another possibility:try to learn something about the essentials of fotofinishing (colors,filter- ing,effects,etc.).There are plenty of magazines about that.Personaly I think it's easier to understand the "digital way" if you know somthing about the "analog" side. rollmops :-)

Thread: Please help! City scene needs improvement... | Forum: Vue
Dennoch, deine Detailversessenheit geflt mir ! Mit freundlichen Gren rollmops
