Phil! You're a sweetheart!!! But these models were made by Architect students... and were copyright free when I found them. I managed to convert them to a readable format (made sure I made both an .obj file and a S3S file). My problem is that their materials did not convert! One of the models is the operahouse in Sidney. You can imagine how many hundreds of pieces it consists of. Btw... :) there was also a model of an old Norwegian logged storehouse, - which I find "udderly" exciting, - as I am a Norwegian "stranded" in Florida. I'm working on the texture file for that one, - and plan on making it a free poser prop when I can figure this thigies out!! :) Britt

Phil!! Thanks a bunch. I'll see if I can get Mr Teddy turned the right way. lol How do you suppose it got that way? And how do I find out if all my other converted models are behaving the same way?? Oh, yeah... and it's one BIG Mr. Teddy. lol You should have seen the hats I've been experimenting with.. The Dork could take a swim in them! g

Sharen, I don't know if any of them are out of order.. I haven't parented any of them. That was what I wanted to do in PHI Builder. I haven't renamed the groups in UV mapper either.. they're still called obj1, obj2 etc. just like they were in the original OBJ file. I'd like to rename them though! :) because in large models it's pretty hopeless to keep track of what obj is what part of the model. I haven't quite figure out how I can rename the different model parts. I tried to "assign group" in UV mapper, - but seemed to end up with double names. Phil... you're an angel! :))) Mr. Teddy is on his way to your mail box. Thank you so much! Britt

Thread: How do I make characters furry? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you have a look at my teddy some posts below, you'll see that I have tried to make him furry. What I did... I simply painted the UV map with the desired color In Photoshop. Masked it, and applied Eyecandy Fur. Play with the light and curlyness till you get the desired effect. Save it as a texture. Then convert your texture to a grayscale image. Invert it, so that the background will be black. Add more contrast to it, - and save your bump-map. You can save it as a .jpg - as Poser will convert it to a bum file when you apply it to your figure. Then there is the material settings in Poser. lol I'm still fighting that, to achieve the nice fluffy look.

Thank you guys! and Irene and pokeydots, yes. That's the tool I've been using. It seems to work pretty OK. I'm also corresponding with the gentleman who was the product mgr for S3D, he has an additional method to convert .ged files. He is on the road at the moment, - but promised to get back to me when he's back home to explain it to me. :) I'll keep you posted.

Thread: Wanted: Free tricycle model | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have one, that I can provide for free. The only problem I have is that I'm a newbie, and the OBJ file is LARGE, and I don't have a texture map for the model. laughing I'm in the process of learning all this stuff. So the information I need is how do I scale down the size of the obj file so that it STAYS the size I want it to be. I've tried to import the obj model of a hat I have, make it smaller in Poser 4, save it.. in the hope that it's smaller. But alas, my characters still end up INSIDE my hat model. lol So if you can teach me how to make the model acceptable in size, - I'll upload it and post a link to it for you. Britt
Thread: Corel has aquired Micrografx S3D | Forum: Bryce
I'll post here if I get a reply from the people I've mailed... Corel, the former product responsible in Micrograpx and some other "gugus" lol. I tried to use Crossroads, but however I saved the S3d file as vrml, it reported errors, either in line 12 or line 2. sigh. It's a pitty, really.. because there are so many nice models in that pack.
