I don't have any problem with people griping about problems with the program. It's par for the course and I'm glad you people have never had such problems with other programs (I certainly have) I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who's experience this time has been glitch free. But I think that the main problems people have with people who complain about the problems is the quantity of times new threads are started to complain about the same problems and primarily it is the same people making the complaints. when someone like myself and many others go through the forum we are looking for new info on usability. Im not looking for any manifestos Im looking for positive information if there is a new bug I'd be happy to learn about it. otherwise it makes very little sense to me to bring up the same complaints over and over again.

"Hey by the way I still get my best stills out of Bryce bar none." me too ron and without jumping through too many hoops (just pack a lunch) but I love many of the new features in poser enough to realize that though I wan't deperately to transfer all my poser scenes to bryce to render it ain't gonna work... Yet.

no showstoppers here though there is a propensity to hang for long minutes when you do something extremely ram intensive but dont rush it and it'll grind through. I've had 1 freezeup but only becouse I tried to rush it by changing rooms in the middle of a process.

I like to think that my naked vicky actualy uses her sword ;) as for the water and stone materials I started with stock materials and modified them the water was done with the mirror ball material with added transparency and a slight change to the imput texture. I also tried adding a refraction node but didn't have it quite right, that still needs some work. the rock texture was also modified from a stock texture though I made so many experimental adjustments Im not quite sure what they were (I'm not at my home computer so I cant look at it directly right now but I believe I started with the Ice rock.)
Thread: P5: Hair render eating my system | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
What I ment was 4 to 5 thousand hairs total. and have a top section of pretty thick hairs also using a textured scullcap will help hide thin spots. and make sure you dont pull those top hairs too tight. I am also working on an idea for a modification of the scullcap. I'll post it in free stuff if it works. It'll be my first freestuff contribution here:) the hair does slow things down immensely not much you can do about that. I have a much slower processer then you at the momenta(TB 800) though my 2.53gh is on it's way:) but I presently have 768 mb of ram and I've put 10.000 hairs on one figure but I could barely turn her and the render time is a lot slower.
Thread: Can we just copy over the old runtime? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
in the manual is instructions for linking your P4 library to your P5, no need to copy over that's one of the many slick new features in P5

Not a beta tester (but then perhaps in a sence we all are:)) but I found 4 or 5 thousand hairs sufficiant if you layer them corectly. try setting up a hairstyle with thicker groups underneath you can make them thin out at the tips and a few thinner groups on top to provide the whispy textures.

I made the sword a hammered iron texture I wanted a little more reflection but the settings are very precise and I was constantly overshooting. given time I'll master the material room. with dozens of nodes to pick from and infinite combinations of connections and settings even doing the water was a challenge and I didn't even get that as perfect as I wanted, should have added better refraction. I'm sure that there will be people out there who will do a thriving buisness in P5 textures.
